Delighted to start a 2-year role as a Research Fellow @unibirmingham @EDACS_UoB for @MEDEP_CHANSE. I’ll be researching representations of influenza in C19/20th fiction (detective & Gothic) & periodicals! Excited to work alongside @melissaldickson & the interdisciplinary team!🦠✍️

The #BAVS2025 @BAVS_UK @BAVS_PGs conference kicked off with the ECR/PGR Professionalisation Day @engfac @UniofOxford - an insightful pedagogy & careers panel, fun Victorian Parlour Games, productive peer review workshops & a fantastic séance magic show w @SylviaSceptre 📚👻



On Thursday at the @BAVS_UK conference I’ll be on the Wilde panel discussing ‘moral pestilence’, miasma, contagion, the 1890s influenza epidemic, and immorality as an ‘Aesthetic condition’ for Wilde, Thomas Mann, and Arthur Symons! Part of the @MEDEP_CHANSE @EUCHANSE project 🦠📖


1 week today the @BAVS_UK @BAVS_PGs ECR committee will be kicking off the BAVS Conference by hosting the ECR Professionalisation Day! We have talks from experts on #C19 pedagogy, careers, peer review workshops, immersive Victorian games & even a séance magic show w @CareenaFenton
