"..cause every once in a while, the lion has to show the jackals who he is." I have been waiting for years, @MikeCunningham, for this moment! If you are interested in anything sports tech or speed, I am now ready to take questions. Most will DM, so I ask politely to email me.
PSA: Coaches let’s get on the same page Step Length = right to left Stride length = right to right When talking about stride length most of you are referring to step length.

ATTENTION ALL TRACK ATHLETES! Mark your calendars! Lace up. Line Up. Light it up

Compression in the blocks is everything. Force builds when the hips and feet stay loaded, not just positioned. Even a slight shift to the arm and you’ve just unloaded your legs. As @Altis, Loren Seagrave, and Tom Tellez preach: “Pressure into the blocks, not over them.”
I was asked today, “how high does my standing vert need to be to dunk” Such a difficult question to answer, I’ve had kids w/ 32”+ vert that can’t get close to dunking and I’ve have kids with 28”+ verticals dunking with ease. So many factors at play when trying to dunk.
Kids were flying today! Smooth a relaxed exactly why we designed this game!

Watching a child learn to walk is so unique, then they learn to run… but some never truly learn to sprint… this is such an interesting progression that stops
Within every track program there should be a balance of yielding and overcoming isometrics as well as yielding and reactive plyos. Using them at the right times and in the right volumes will keep your athletes fresh and ready to run fast more often
I had ChatGPT analyzed 5 years of fly 10,20 & 30m data to determine, on average, the growth curve is for our athletes. Assuming the philosophy of the program is the year to year with slight adjustments here it is… Fr —> So 3.86% improvement So—> Jr 3.25% JR —> SR 2.12%
Ignite Athlete Progression Standards Drive long-term development through: ✔️ Strength-to-weight benchmarks ✔️ Velocity-based progressions ✔️ Bodyweight control Set standards that athletes can visualize and strive for. Are they perfect, no. But it drives intent in the weightroom.
Track by the number 18 week season At most you have: 15-17 Max V days 10-12 Speed Endurance Workouts 15-17 Acceleration days 15-17 General Days That’s it… if you miss one day that’s an opportunity lost. If you want more time then the off-season is where you have to build
Special Olympics Track Senior Day Congratulations to all of our wonderful seniors! Thank you for all your leadership and dedication! Good luck the rest of the season!
Had some fun with our warm ups today… reaction drills and high intent acceleration all in a simple game. Give a kid a pool noodles and watch your warm ups level up!
Had a little fun this morning… I call it high jumpers duck duck goose. Great way to get some single leg contacts at varying intensities on a curve while the are laughing and having fun!
