The courts have the power to rein in the president's invocation of the Alien Enemies Act. They cannot stand idly by as the president attempts to misuse claims of national security to justify major abuses. justsecurity.org/109330/politic…
I'm extremely susceptible to advertising and Taylor Swift-adjacent discourse, so I watched TSITP..... and this show is just Laurel, Conrad, and a bunch of people who'd fail the marshmallow test
Should've renamed the team the Monuments
The lease the federal government signed with D.C. can’t be undone because the president doesn’t like the team name. (Well, at least not if the law is followed.) The only way to block the deal would be through Congress, which is urging D.C. to speed the approval of said deal.
I've been very lucky that the folks at @51stnews have let me start reporting again, but this small-yet-mighty outlet has big ambitions: including hiring me full-time. We'd love it if you'd help support independent local journalism in D.C.! (And thank you a million times. Really.)

Thanks @VolokhC and @IlyaSomin for letting me and my @BrennanCenter colleague Leah Tulin write a guest post on last week's Alien Enemies Act oral argument! reason.com/volokh/2025/07…
Very cool that our and @CatoInstitute/@IlyaSomin's Alien Enemies Act amicus brief was cited favorably by a judge (key contention "has some purchase") at oral argument in the Fifth Circuit. brennancenter.org/our-work/court…

Good to do a quick romp through Facebook Marketplace every now and again, if only to remind oneself that humanity is vaster and more diverse than the mind can reasonably comprehend
I thought the Pitchfork Benson Boone review was overly mean and then Mr Electric Blue came up on a Spotify playlist and my god. An utterly rizzless Kidz Bop riff on Mr. Blue Sky.
