It's day 5 of packdown at #Durotriges25 and, despite the extreme heat, the team are ensuring all records, plans and sections of Iron Age #archaeology are complete

This lovely Roman bow & fantail brooch dates from the late 1st - early 2nd century. It's decorated with colourful enamel & the metal, now green, would originally have been shiny & brassy, almost gold in colour. #FindsFriday finds.org.uk/database/artef…
Rome's Forgotten War isn't just a story about Rome. It's a story about the rebel Celtic tribe they set out to destroy. Alongside the battlefield archaeology is a huge amount of evidence about the Cantabrian people. #ironage #iberia #cantabria #cantabrianmountains
Been a low pointing coefficient this year, but well worth the wait... #TopPointing
Day 4 of packdown at #Durotriges25 and its a blur of context recording, planning, section drawing and photography The Durotrigian drone is giving us good aerial views of specific areas of the trench Such as this roundhouse, terraced platform, enclosure ditch combo 🤩

Of course, what you really want to find, 5 days after an archaeological dig has come to am end, is an Iron Age roundhouse 10m across with a door facing SE, it is gorgeous Shame we didn’t see it earlier in the excavation 🤣 #Durotriges25 #Archaeology

Matt has just completed the excavation of a sub #Roman terraced house platform on the hottest day of the year at #Durotriges25 He is happy 😊 👍
