What is required of men and women in order to reproduce and sustain human life to adulthood isn’t a socio-cultural afterthought; it’s the reason for the season or rather, the season for the reason, whether we comply with/utilize the reproductive mandate/capability or not.

While I have empathy for Wu’s situation, when the alternative is triggering fear response followed by sublimation of protective intuition and boundaries of every girl and woman in that space, the ethics become more complicated.

A fixation on “having a period” is like a fixation on talking in ones sleep. The enchantment is entirely symbolic, generated entirely within this persons psyche & unrelated to “having a period” which is simply, exactly as varied as the number of people who “have a period”.
