Bluesky is really hotting up for the science community. Noticeable increase in activity and critical mass of scientists since the US election. If you haven't already, consider joining....and perhaps follow me @drrobkingsley.bsky.social
I am co-chairing the 'Evolutionary and comparative genomics' session at i3s Salmonella conference in St Malo in 2025 - will be great to see you there! i3scongress.sciencesconf.org/resource/pag... Submission deadline for abstracts : 30th November
Salmonella triggers amino acid malabsorption in the ileum to create a a wave of lysine entering the cecum. Decarboxylation of lysine buffers the cytosol to protect against short-chain fatty acids, enabling the pathogen to invade the cecal ecosystem. pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pn…
I’m thrilled to share that I’ll be setting sail into new waters! I've recently been appointed Chair of Intestinal Microbiome at @TU_Muenchen and will be soon transitioning to #TUMSchoolofLifeSciences in Freising. #PhD and #Postdoc positions available- please share!

My personal website is now LIVE!! And I have included a blog about my first sampling expedition as @MSCActions fellow. Please read to hear more about the beginning of my journey with the #uArctic_project. nasmillelarkemejia.com/from-the-guaji…
Training workshop for our collaborators @NMRL Zimbabwe funded by @gatesfoundation to investigate the association of #typhoid with protists in wastewater but will have a positive impact for surveillance including #AMR Thanks to @tapfumamashe, @tweakyaustin, Michaela and Petros
@QIBSequencing @TheQuadram @nanopore Bacterial Nanopore Sequencing and bioinformatics training at @NMRL Harare, Zimbabwe. #capacitybuilding (1/2)
Excited that our manuscript "CCL28 modulates neutrophil responses during infection with mucosal pathogens" is out in @eLife: doi.org/10.7554/eLife.…; led by the super talented @GregWalker101 and @AraceliPerezLo, with the help of many collaborators (incl. @victornizet and team)
🚨 Deadline approaching! 🚨 The deadline to apply for our #postdoc position in early life #microbiome research is 29th September. If you're interested, make sure to apply via the link in the post below 🦠🧫👀 Don’t miss out! #ResearchOpportunity #MicrobiomeScience #ApplyNow
🚨 Exciting opportunity! We have another #PDRA role open @IMIBirmingham in @hall_lab! If you're passionate about early life #microbiome's, big data, &/or diet-microbe interactions (we're flexible in terms of skills background), check out ad & apply via 👇edzz.fa.em3.oraclecloud.com/hcmUI/Candidat…

We determined gene essentiality in 13 Enterobacteriaceae including E. coli, Salmonella and Klebsiella strains, and find ~1/3 of the essential genome is variable -- but! there's no evidence for genus-specific essential genes, implying rapid turnover journals.asm.org/doi/10.1128/mb…
Abstract submission is open for i3s 2025! i3scongress.innozh.fr
