Rationale and design of the CHIP-BCIS3 randomized controlled trial: LV unloading in high-risk PCI. Just published in @circ CVINT. ➡️ historical challenges of trials in MCS ➡️innovative design and ideal population to deliver a definitive trial bit.ly/4bV3VHu

Our IPD analysis of @REVIVED_BCIS2 and STICH is out in print today! Did PCI fail to match CABG, or did medical therapy move the goalposts? Exciting implications for @BCIS4Trial, which will complete the circle. doi.org/10.1093/eurhea…

Exciting that @CHIP_BCIS3 is now in the follow-up phase! The question of elective perc LV unloading to improve patient outcomes in high-risk PCI remains as pertinent now as when this RCT started in 2021. doi.org/10.1161/CIRCIN… Whatever the result, it’ll be worth the wait⏳
📆Are you attending our next Investigators' Meeting on Thurs 12th June 2:30-3:30pm? ⏲️Don't miss out on key updates including plans for the remaining follow-up and insightful short talks from collaborators across the UK. 📨RSVP now at [email protected]
Proud to have published the first IPD analysis of @REVIVED_BCIS2 and STICH in @ESC_Journals @ehj_ed. We test revascularisation but OMT moves the goalposts! Great experience with great collaborators from around the world @divaka_perera @BCIS4Trial @markcpetrie20
How should we interpret STICH in the @REVIVED_BCIS2 era? Did improving OMT between the trials move the goalposts? Can we compare CABG to PCI? The first IPD analysis of randomised data in ischaemic LVSD out today in @ehj_ed. academic.oup.com/eurheartj/adva…

🤩We've achieved over 90% of our recruitment goal. Now only 28 participants left to recruit!! 💪 Read about all the latest updates in the October 2024 newsletter:

📢Prize giveaway📢 👏Congratulations Dr Alan Bagnall and co @NewcastleHosps @NuTHResearch for recruiting the 265th participant! 🙌Excellent work Dr Sohail Khan and co @uhbtrust @UHBResearch as top recruiter in September! 🏆Still plenty of prizes to be won as we approach 300🎯
This is a worry. How can we make clinical academic training more attractive? @NIHRresearch
The most shocking trial in modern cardiology continues to find no signal of PCI benefit, despite enrolling pts most likely to benefit. How the “clogged pipe” frame of thinking persists despite such evidence amazes me.
In an analysis of REVIVED-BCIS2, #PCI did not improve hierarchical composite of death, HHF, & health status at 2 yrs, although did improve short-term KCCQ-OSS (not sustained). PCI should not be recommended to improve long-term health status. bit.ly/3ZH6sBJ #JACCHF…
The under-diagnosis of #HFpEF is a clinical problem. This study suggests there's an enhanced issue in Black pts w/ HFpEF, as predictive diagnostic systems may be biased in favor of the comorbidity patterns more prevalent in White pts w/ HFpEF bit.ly/3XAlIO6…

2 year results of REVIVED-BCIS2 Trial: PCI did not improve the hierarchical composite of death, HHF, and health status at 2 years. PCI improved KCCQ-OSS at 6 months, but not sustained to 1- or 2-year follow-up. jacc.org/doi/10.1016/j.… @JACCJournals #JACCHF
We have a complex coronary interventional fellow post at Glenfield Hospital available in the new year. The post offers exposure to all aspects of complex and CTO PCI. Feel free to contact me if you are interested and would like to discuss. Link below 👇 jobs.nhs.uk/candidate/joba…
Fantastic today that 2 landmark RCTs our centre @UHD_NHS recruited patients for impacted ESC guidelines to direct future care: @OctoberTrial pushing IC imaging toward 1A @REVIVED_BCIS2 shifting PCI in ICM down to 2bB Great CI leadership @NielsRHolm & @divaka_perera #researchwin🏆
ESC guidelines for PCI in severe LV impairment changed from 2a LoE C (should be done in most patients, based on consensus) to 2b LoE B (may be done in selected patients, based on randomised data).#ESCCongress 🙏🏽@REVIVED_BCIS2 investigators for providing the supporting evidence

Join us at #ESC2024. I feel very privileged to present on the imaging data of the REVIVED-BCIS2 trial. Correlation between CMR and echocardiography in guiding ICD therapy for ICM.
🎉 We’ve recruited our 250th participant at @UHD_NHS @DrPeterOKane @JonathanWHinton and co! Thank you to ALL our collaborators for getting us to this special milestone!🥳
💥52 participants to go!💥 🏃♀️We're now in the home stretch and sprinting to the November finish. 🗞️Catch all the latest updates and Investigators' Meeting highlights in our August newsletter! 👇
