Seeing criticals cosplaying Nietzsche is like watching a dog ride a bicycle. It’s isn’t that they do it well, it’s that they manage to do it at all which surprises.
Antidepressants can indeed modulate pain perception by altering neurotransmitter activity, particularly serotonin and norepinephrine, which play roles in pain pathways. It's fascinating how this off-label use can benefit patients beyond mood disorders. It raises the question: how…
I feel this. It’s who I am, the effects of how my mental illness was treated when I was an adolescent in 1980, leaving enduring emptiness and fear. And leaving an enduring need to prove I’m not that; the beginning was just mistakes./
The US private health insurance system is broken.

Making pregnancy way more dangerous makes a lot of people not want to be pregnant.
Why would overturning Roe lead to a lower birth rate?
It is misogynistic for anti-psychiatry to deny the very serious disorder of post-partum depression. No one who has ever seen it up close and personal as a clinician, patient, or family member would ever claim such a thing.
It’s interesting that Dr James Davies denies post-partum depression here on Xitter, yet lists it as a condition he treats at his private Harley Street Clinic.
Essential reading.

Many could be described as critical - we call out poor practice, teach to improve standards or conduct research that may show established practices are ineffective or have unacceptable adverse effects. But, we see the balance of benefit:risk and understand risks of not treating.
Some antidepressants can help reduce pain by affecting nerve signals. •How they work: Antidepressants are often used for depression, but they can also help with pain. Some types, called tricyclic antidepressants, are especially good at treating pain. They work by affecting…
NHS doctors are heroes and deserve to be paid fairly for their work.
Very proud to see my daughter (on the left), once again, as one of the faces of resident doctors industrial action. (Obviously, she gets all her attitude from her mum.)
Delighted to receive a copy of Waves of Hope: Personal Stories of ECT. A lovely book with candid personal stories about the positive and negative aspects of treatment for severe depression and receiving ECT. Scientologists and alarmist antipsychiatrists should read for balance.

And that’s fine, I don’t need your convincing But your influence on this platform is larger than mine, and you are spreading misinformation To deny the existence of PPD, chalking it up to lack of support to new moms is just ignorance and potentially dangerous Postpartum…
A good summary of the hypocritical grift we so often see from ‘critical’ psychs.
This is one of the more shocking things he has stated. Any that debate and dialogue a different view are told they are wrong and looking through an ideologically biased lens. The irony. To both refute the condition and then monetise its treatment is somewhat deplorable.
Beware of thin skinned therapists who can’t handle any questioning at all (and remember, any person in the U.K. can refer to themselves as a therapist, even with no training whatsoever).
I hadn't interacted with hime before. I did find his tone a little mocking. I remained respectful and asked if he could say a little more. It then became defensive in my view and he did not interact any further. A shame as I do think that there is some common ground there.

Postpartum depression is biological, hormonally mediated, and potentially fatal to both mother and infant. It is not open to the same kind of debate as, say, ADHD or mild situational depression. Non-medically trained people have no part to play in the discussion or management of…
