New paper led by Maite Arribas and myself. We used electronic health records to explore the duration, first presentation, time course and transdiagnosticity of prodromes to depression (UMD), bipolar disorder (BMD) and psychosis (PSY) in secondary care 🧵⬇️ doi.org/10.1038/s41380…
🚨New paper🚨 In the biggest placebo controlled RCT to date in people with schizophrenia who receive inhaled THC (20/40/60mg), oral CBD (1000mg) worsened psychotic symptoms and cognition. Heroic work by study lead @ed_chesney 💪
CBD is good right? Errr maybe not... In this RCT, I gave high doses of THC 🌿 to people with schizophrenia. Pre-treatment with CBD did not reduce the effects... but doubled them! 🤯 Sometimes I'm not sure that science is for me 🤡.
A really surprising result which points to the CBD picture in psychosis being a bit more complicated than we thought

In February, I saw @michaelbrowni19 present the results of PAX-D, a randomised controlled trial of pramipexole in treatment-resistant depression Like many in the audience, I was blown away by the results (link in bio)
