sinner saved by a gracious God. husband to a loving wife. father of seven children. elder at RRBC. reformed Baptist, but not obnoxious about it.
RESOLVED. If I believe that God has spoken with clarity and finality in his word, I should act like it in my doctrine and in my practice. In short, I should reflect my confidence in the God who has spoken in every area of my life.
This BTW is why pointing to the problems in a *particular communion is not a sufficient refutation of a tradition over all. The SBC doesn’t represent all baptists any more than the PCA represents all presbys. We have to look at essential doctrines to critique entire traditions.
The variety of responses, everything from, “Popeless romanism” To, “Presby, but with bishops” Illiterates the wide range of theology within modern Anglicanism. Makes pinning it down rather difficult. BTW, This is true of other forms of Christianity as well.

Ok I’ll bite, what exactly is Anglicanism?
In reality “whether the PCA is a more theologically orthodox denomination” is the primary question As the Apostle states it, those who “went out from us” were the false converts. This applies in a church split It is always those who leave orthodoxy that are the true schismatics
I disagree. We need to be rigorous in our terminology and history. That the PCA’s origins are as a split off from the PCUS is a fact. Whether the PCA is a more theologically orthodox denomination is a separate question. Getting basic facts and history wrong is one reason…
Retrieval, whether by Labradors or theologians, is always a selective project. They don’t retrieve everything, just those things they think are valuable. The retrieval is only as quality as the retriever. so choose wisely whom you trust to tell you about the past.
It’s kind of ironic that I just happened to be reading to my family last night about the Cox vs Knox dispute in Frankfurt. I would tell you what John Knox said about the book of common prayer, But some of y’all would think it insensitive right now.
“at last I came to see the obvious: I care most about what is being taught; they care most about who is doing the teaching” You mean like having a radical feminist who speaks of the divine feminine write a chapter in the book you edited? Perhaps we should care about both 🤷
Ah yes, all those “bishops” you read about in the book of Acts. 🫠
It’s cool that you like the liturgy and all. I’m just interested in how you explain the massive change in ecclesiology.
PSA, if you’ve questioned whether his project was actually consistently Baptist, you may be eligible for compensation.
Breaking: Matthew Barrett, a former professor at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, has become an Anglican and joined Trinity Anglican Seminary. tas.edu/news/trinity-a…
What does “wife-centered lover” even mean? And what is the God required alternative? 🤔

Counterpoint. Store bought eggs are gross. The yolks are pale, they don’t sit up tall like a fresh yolk does and the whites are runny. No way I’m eating those old nasty eggs from the store when I can get fresh ones at home.
Hot take: eggs fresh from chickens you raised yourself don’t taste any better than grocery store eggs. Plenty of other good reasons to get chickens but this isn’t one of them.
🚨🔥 The reason so many evangelicals misidentify Mark 12:30 etc as ‘gospel’ is that they’ve never been taught the 3rd use of the law. They know they should delight in it, But the only category they have is gospel. We need to teach believers to love the law of God, as his law.
You know you’ve spent to much time on here and need to go touch grass when you can’t tell that using the term “franchises” was obviously meant ironically. Kinda embarrassing really.
You know you are baptisting too hard when you refer to visible churches as franchises unironically.
Yesterday, because i preached I did the benediction. Afterwards i admitted to my kids that I didn’t raise my hands like our pastor normally does My oldest told me that doing so, or the congregation holding out their hands,“feels charismatic dad, just too much for me” Made me 🤣
Where’s the line between the consistent application of the RPW and just wanting all your franchises to look exactly the same?
A while back I made the decision to stay off here on Sundays. Not a “legalism” just a personal decision I put on no one else. But for myself it’s good to take the day for better things. So if you get radio silence from me that’s probably why.
Thank you for the prayers. It went well and I believe the Lord was glorified.
I’ll be filling the pulpit tomorrow while my pastor is out of town, first time I’ve done that here. Going to be preaching from Isaiah 40 Praying the Lord will be exalted and the saints edified. Also, since the surgery didn’t happen, my parents will be there 🙏 they’re comforted
