Medieval people generally didn't go to the gym. But I've seen coopers, lumberjacks & blacksmiths... and well, the gym came to them. Also, just so you know, I've done a lot of wood chopping. Yes, I've been watching 'Our Yorkshire Shop: A Victorian Restoration', why do you ask?
When did which africans teach which europeans to shower properly and how do you define showering properly? Europeans have been bathing, washing, using natural soap and building bathhouses for 1000s of years. Water was and still is dangerous.
The opposition to the term, as with many similar recent terminological disputes, derives ultimately from certain academics feeling that the use of the term is too closely associated with nationalistic groups they dislike, and therefore they respond by themselves diving into the…
Interesante punto. De hecho, pienso lo mismo.
The people insisting on not using it are obviously the ones more loaded with motive and ideology than the ones still using it. It's just empty political gesturing, unbefitting of academics.

Angry? No, just amused. A book that is <2,600 years old does not mention human species that went extinct ~26,000 years old. This isn't hard to get.
We should consider the distinct possibility that Neanderthals & Denisovans were the ‘Nephilim’ described in the Bible. ⚠️Warning: Indoctrinated academics will get bizarrely angry by this post.
Clerical concubinage in medieval Spain was so widespread that the cortes tried to compel the concubines of priests (barraganas) to wear yellow cloth on their dresses to distinguish them from married women It got bad enough to offend the sensibilities even of the French

Looks like crap. Why are all the nobles dirty? Why all that leather armour that no one wore. Why is everyone in brown and not the bright colours eleventh century people loved? Why is it filmed in Iceland if it’s set in England and Normandy? Where is Harold’s moustache? Where …
… are the Norman haircuts? Why is a black actor playing the Earl of Northumbria? Why does the BBC see “medieval” and think “okay, so basically fantasy then”? Who is this crap made for?
O light and adornment of Spain, most holy James, helper of the oppressed, protector of travelers, you who occupy the foremost place among the apostles because you were the first to earn the crown of martyrdom. --- O lux et decus Hispaniae, sanctissime Jacobe, sublevator…
“Though Lithuanians and far-off pagans may seem marginal to European history, it is precisely the uniqueness of their stories and the historical situations they found themselves in that make for such fascinating reading.” Thanks @lijukic for this review of ‘Silence of the Gods’!

Someone here on Twitter asked Grok about this photo and got an incorrect answer. Don't get me wrong, things like this and much worse happened but... this is not an old photo. In stead it shows actor James Mason in a scene from the film 'Mandingo', in 1975.
That’s meant to be Earl Morcar of Northumbria, I believe. He has a great tan. Perhaps it was particularly sunny up north that year. Or he’d just come back from a beachside holiday.
Again, this looks absolutely terrible. Drab fantasy costumes, silly biker/heavy metal band armour, ludicrous anachronistic “diverse” casting and gloomy shots galore. Also filmed in Iceland - so, exactly like green and forested southern England. 🙄 Total crap.
