Honored to be named a Rookie Legislator of the Year by the Virginia Education Association for my work on math auto-enrollment. Supporting teachers, funding schools, and fighting for excellent outcomes for our children is lifelong work. 🍎🍎🍎Thank you to the VEA and to our local…

The @UVA Faculty Senate has overwhelmingly voted to express no confidence in the Board of Visitors "for not protecting the university and its president from outside interference and for not consulting with the Faculty Senate in a time of crisis"
Today is my final day in office as President of UVA, and I’ve recorded a few thoughts in this video. Serving in this role has been the honor of a lifetime. youtu.be/ZW-dP8Yo9Gc?si…

Happy Independence Day! Now more than ever we need to celebrate the incredible feat that is our democracy and stand up to defend it from all who seek to destroy it.
“Democracy is not a spectator sport, it’s a participatory event”. I hope we are all able to enjoy and revel and participate in our great democracy this year and for many more to come. Happy Birthday America!
Hidden “Junk” Fees BANNED in Virginia—starting TODAY! Thanks to Virginia Democrats, what you see is what you pay—no surprises, no hidden costs. This means more money stays in the pockets of hardworking Virginians and it’s a major win for consumers across the Commonwealth!

I’ve been off the grid the past few days (other than some check ins about UVA). Instead, I spent time with my Grandma Preston before she left us today. She was a powerhouse and I will share more about her soon, but for now just a sketch of her and my Dad and this time together.…

A sad day for higher education in our country. Trump’s actions are wildly inappropriate overreach. Colleges are places of learning, free thought, and opportunity - they should stay that way. nytimes.com/2025/06/27/us/…
The new VA advanced math autoenrollment law is a bipartisan model for other states. We had a true leader with D @DelegateCallsen as its sponsor, overwhelming bipartisan majorities pass it, R @GovernorVA sign it & his appointee @GullyoftheSun now faithfully implementing it 👏 6/6
At the end of next school year, there will be public reporting per the statute so Virginia parents and students (the ultimate education stakeholders) can see who is raising the bar equity-wise for advanced math classes 5/6 x.com/ToddTruitt7650…
I think @DelegateCallsen's law is the best of the 4 states' auto-enrollment laws targeted at middle school math because of its public reporting obligations of disaggregated subgroups of students, providing much-needed transparency to the community. 5/5 lis.blob.core.windows.net/files/1072506.…
The state will be soon releasing the 25th percentile statewide score for this past school year's relevant standardized math tests for districts to autoenroll the applicable students for next school year. 4/6
