As we enter the school holidays in England and Wales, we would like to thank all the brilliant music teachers for their hard work and dedication this year. We hope you enjoy your well-earned break.
Ozzy Osbourne was a musical pioneer and heavy metal icon who will be sorely missed by his loved ones and legions of fans. RIP Ozzy.
It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time. Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee and…
Have had the most wonderful morning listening to the Proms Live on @BBCRadio3 . Quite brilliant playing by Theotime Langlois de Swarte and his Le Consort, bringing a freshness to Bach , Vivaldi and others. Loved every moment @ISM_music @classicjacko
‘Some of the best years of my life!’ @DaniHoward6 reflects on her time at the Royal College of Music, from her first composition lessons to launching her career with the support of the Creative Careers Centre. Read the interview in #RCMUpbeat magazine 👉 bit.ly/DaniHoward
On the one hand the private sector (rightly) complains about Oak National, but on the other rushes to join these panels as if that were not equally problematic. Why is no one in government giving serious consideration to the ethics of all of this?
I'm so lucky to have such a strong bond with my family. I love knowing wherever my journey as a musician takes me, I always have their constant support behind me. ❤️
Great to be at Westminster for @ArtsMindsCmpgn petition #MakeSpaceForTheArts Access to arts, culture and creativity should be a right for every child and young person.
The Arts and Minds Campaign Coalition members. 10,000 signatures calling for the government to make space for the arts in schools
Just booked my tickets to hear Delius Mass of Life @BBCSO @bbcproms @RoyalAlbertHall on 18th August. Very excited as I’ve never heard it live in concert and the wonderful Roddy Williams is singing!

Absolutely chuffed—shows what seven years of proper graft can do! Mighty cheers to all who stood firm for fairness in music. Onwards!
Seven years of hard work, lobbying, giving evidence, writing letters and talking to Parliamentarians and civil servants finally paid off. Thank you @CommonsWEC and @AngelaRayner for listening and ending the use of NDAs to cover up discrimination @ISM_music @cj_dinenage
Since 2018, the ISM has called on government to stop NDAs being used to cover up discrimination and harassment. Seven years on, government has announced a ban. This is a great step forward for the music sector. Find out more 👇 loom.ly/z2Rti3k
In the latest issue of Philharmonic, the magazine for RPS Members, we followed @ISM_music’s new President, cellist Gabriella Swallow to discover how varied and exciting a working week can be for her. We’re exhausted just reading about it! royalphilharmonicsociety.org.uk/assets/files/R…
I’m proud to bits of this disc coming to you on 8 August… was a joy to continue my love affair with Czech song with top collaborators Dylan Perez and of course, @ChandosRecords
The Government has announced that it will ban the use of Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs) in cases of harassment and discrimination by amending the Employment Rights Bill. We called for this in our Report on Misogyny in Music and in the follow up Report last month 👇
We have published a report, Misogyny in music: on repeat. We found that banning non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) is fundamental to tackling a 'culture of misogyny'. Read the full list of recommendations: publications.parliament.uk/pa/cm5901/cmse…
Fantastic to see this news. We @ISM_music have been calling for this ban since 2018. A ban on NDAs in discrimination cases is one of the most powerful ways we can bring real change to the workplace @CommonsWEC . @cj_dinenage theguardian.com/law/2025/jul/0…
ISM Chief Executive Deborah Annetts has said that there is 'still a major gender and racial imbalance' in the BBC Proms programming. @donne_uk's research on the BBC Proms 2024 shows that the programme is heavily dominated by music from white men. Read Deborah's full reaction 👇
If you can pay individual employees $300 million, it seems reasonable to ask that you pay for your training data.
Mark Zuckerberg is offering top research talent pay packages of up to $300 million over four years, with more than $100 million in total compensation for the first year, WIRED has learned. Meta has made at least 10 of these offers to OpenAI staffers. wired.com/story/mark-zuc…
HUGE WIN for American creatives! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 Big Tech's AI Amnesty gambit *backfired* big time 99-1 Google & Meta got so much money but so few friends 🤣🤣
The moratorium just got taken out of the budget bill in a LANDSLIDE vote. 99 to 1. Incredible. Thank you to the lawmakers, the children's advocates, the artists and creators, the voters, the labor groups, and everyone who spoke out against the harmful AI law moratorium.
Wishing the tenor Nicky Spence @nickythespence a very happy birthday!
