NEW PAPER from the DATAJUSTICE project: ‘What do data rights do for workers?’ In this paper we assess the possibilities and limitations of a focus on data rights in response to the datafication of work based on research with trade unions in the UK: journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/10…
Congratulations to our co-directors Lina and Joanna! We’re very pleased to see the work of the Lab continue and look forward to collaborating with @MIC_Center on this important research!
New project! Excited to have received funding under the T-AP scheme to start a collaboration with Joanna Redden and @VWPickard to investigate corporate activities in the advancement of AI across UK, Canada and US. Project starts in Sep so watch this space!
This is an important read. VCF UK are concerned that such an approach to public services deepens and amplifies inequality. Solutions must be in line with child rights. @LinaDencik @DataJusticeLab
On Transforming Society, @gvantoorn @LinaDencik and colleagues challenge Labour to resist the temptation to rely on technological solutions such as #AI to tackle the structural problems of poverty and inequality. @DataJusticeLab @AdmsCentre #Automated ow.ly/IRCr50Sq22J
In the lead up to the election, we’ve written a response to the Labour manifesto and their turn to AI solutions for addressing issues of poverty and inequality. Tech fixes might be tempting but they come at a significant cost that Labour can’t afford to ignore. Read it here:

As someone new to @GoldsmithsUoL, it has been truly bewildering and infuriating to witness management’s treatment of staff. Irreparable damage is being done to a great institution. But there is an alternative and time to reconsider. #notadonedeal @GoldsmithsUCU
Job alert! Finishing slowly my DATAForest project (new publications soon) and looking for jobs. Any recommendations, news or advices most welcome. Mostly research, policy on data, digital also their environmental connections. Image for attention
