First off, All GMOs are genetically modified, but not all genetic modification is GMO. Breeders have modified crops for centuries using crosses, selection, etc. GMOs involve direct DNA insertion in labs faster, but regulated. Everything you eat has been gentically modified.
On the topic of GMOs in Nigeria, I have to tell you that Nigeria has accepted GMO since 2019. Eg. csiro.au/en/news/all/ar… So, a good portion of the beans you eat is GMO in Nigeria.
