Member of Parliament for the wonderful town of Weston-super-Mare. 🇬🇧🌹 - These days, most likely on Bluesky @danaldridgemp.bsky.social
Out in Weston this Saturday with the brilliant Sophie’s Litter Pickers, helping keep our streets and green spaces clean and cared for 🌱 Litter might seem like a small thing, but it has a big impact on how we feel about the place we call home. Let’s keep looking after our town

It was great grabbing a coffee with Josh McTaggart, a proud Weston local who’s now CEO of Theatres Trust. We talked about how we support venues in Weston, making sure they have access to funding, remain central to their communities, and are protected for generations to come.

I’ve always known how special our town is - and just how incredible the people in it are. Massive congratulations to Aishah Ahmed, who’s just received a British Citizen Award today for her work tackling food insecurity right here in Weston-super-Mare.
One of my favourite parts of the job is getting out and really listening. This week I was out door-knocking in Locking Parklands, hearing directly from residents about what they love about Weston and what needs fixing.

I hosted a powerful consultation session right here in our town, along with Talk Club, charity leads, and local residents, to form part of the UK’s first-ever Men’s Mental Health Strategy. A huge thank you to everyone who attended and were so honest about their experiences.

Pleased to join a roundtable with Leigh Ingham MP, campaigner Tane Meredith, and leaders from education and sport. We spoke about barriers children face to being active, from inequality to inclusion. Physical activity needs to be built into everyday life, school, and at home.

🚍 Free bus travel for kids aged 5–15 across Weston and the wider West of England region during the school holidays. I’ve been pushing for better, more affordable public transport for young people, and working closely with Helen Godwin WECA Mayor, and Cllr. Hannah Young at NSC.

Taxes should be fair. They're how we fund our public services, but too often, ordinary people, not the ultra-wealthy, bear the biggest burden. That’s why I support the bold proposals from Patriotic Millionaires UK. Read my full thoughts here: danielaldridgemp.co.uk/i-support-the-…

No one should feel unsafe in a taxi. That’s why I’ve joined forces with Cllr James Clayton to raise urgent concerns with the Minister for Local Transport about taxis and private hire vehicles licensed outside Weston-super-Mare - especially those from hundreds of miles away.

It's World Youth Skills Day! Aishah is a brilliant student from Weston who’s just been awarded a British Citizen Award for her amazing work 👏 I was proud to write a letter to support her application – and even prouder to see her get the recognition she so deserves.

Today in Parliament asked the Government directly: Are they able to help fill the funding gap? Will the Minister meet with me urgently to discuss next steps? We can't afford to lose this opportunity. Weston deserves investment, ambition, and a future that honours our heritage.
I know I’m a week late shouting about it – but between Parliament meetings and constituency work, I’ve been busy reading too! School Reading Challenge is a great way to engage kids in books, imagination, and learning. What are you reading at the moment?

A big thank you to the 50+ residents who came along to our Milton Coffee Morning. This was my biggest coffee morning, and I definitely took a lot from it. I want to thank everyone for being so patient and engaging in such thought-provoking conversations.

Leaseholders across the country are at the mercy of opaque and unaffordable service charges and unscrupulous managing agents. Today, Labour is acting to protect leaseholders from service charge abuse and ensure landlords and managing agents are robustly held to account.
Hey Zarah, #thatsnotme #Skepta over One Direction.
Looks like a shit One Direction.
