On July 24, 1984, Reserve Officer James Taylor, #R7868 was killed in a helicopter accident near the intersection of South Hall Street and Canton Street. Member of The Texas National Guard, with the Dallas Police Department for 14 years, survived by his wife and two sons.

On July 24, 1984, Lieutenant Robert Cormier, #1599 was killed in a helicopter accident near the intersection of South Hall Street and Canton Street. U.S Air Force veteran, he served with the Dallas Police Department 25 years. He was survived by his wife and five children.

Fighting crime is a constant effort, but the numbers speak for themselves: in the Central Business District area, year-to-date, crime is down 25% - including a 23% drop in violent crime. Well done, CBD officers!

On July 21, 2018, Senior Corporal Jamie Givens, #5484, was killed by a drunk driver during the funeral procession for another Dallas police officer. Corporal Givens served with the Dallas Police Department for 32 years. #EndOfWatch

Officer Thomas Lee Harris, #4641, 37, died July 20, 1985, from injuries sustained during a crash nine days prior. Officer Harris was a U.S. Navy veteran who served during the Vietnam War. He had served with the Dallas Police Department for three years. #EndOfWatch
