The argument between full season points vs playoffs is basically "All 36 races should factor equally into judging a team's performance and deciding the year's best team" vs "Somebody might be too deserving of a championship and that would be boring for the rest of us."

The next gen car would lend itself pretty nicely in a full-season format. We don’t see guys putting up big winning/T5 numbers, the best average finish has only gotten worse because of the parity. In short, less championships would be clinched early
Strikes me just now, part of what’s holding the Nextgen car back in popularity is that the parity it has generated can’t be recognized and celebrated in a playoff format. The small sample size of races in the current format creates a natural oblivious state to the excellence…
