“I've lost close family members to cancer that didn't yet have treatments available, the hardest part for them wasn't affording it. A lack of innovation is access problem we often overlook because it isn't as salient-but it is a far larger barrier than price.” - @C_Garthwaite
Also: conclusion of NYT piece especially critical, speaking to value of participation in "Greysteel" as fostering a sense of community+purpose-so much more than simply performance metrics that so many seem obsessed with optimizing -> timmermanreport.com/2025/06/from-o…. @SS_strength
In contrast to evanescent wellness "trends," lifestyle interventions striving to improve health by helping movement, sleep, and strength are backed by considerable, robust data; here's a slide from a recent talk I gave that's about strength. cc @SS_strength
This @nytimes story about "older" (>40y) people lifting is wonderful (and a brilliant idea) - and I guess @SS_strength's secret is out, as Dr. J. Sullivan's book "The Barbell Prescription" has been shared for years like samizdat among enthusiasts... nytimes.com/2025/07/26/wel…

Paradox also highlighted recently by @pmarca on @a16z pcast, as I discussed in @timmermanreport -> timmermanreport.com/2025/02/the-fu… cc @zakkohane @sapinker @emollick @vijaypande
Observed paradox in AI in medicine @NEJM_AI ai.nejm.org/doi/full/10.10… but I suspect as fast as you move the goal posts, AI will be there soon enough. @emollick
Brought to my attention by @NathanPriceSci & Lee Hood’s book (“Age of Scientific Wellness “), specifically when Hood discussing initial widespread resistance of scientific community (including @NIH) to HGP; tide changed he said when assoc tools perceived to be broadly useful

One more slide from my talk, abt data demonstrating virtuous cycle betw physical activity+purpose. I've argued this "agentic dividend" can also be used to motivate other health-promoting activities (from improving your sleep to not deferring that colonoscopy...) @GretchenReynold

One point to emerge from this is the continued relevance of "Miles' Law" - "where you stand depends upon where you sit..." - both D & R folks react incredibly differently to similar news/events based on whether D or R is in office, apparently. @pmarca @bhorowitz @bariweiss
This is fascinating @a16z pcast in which @pmarca & @bhorowitz provide their view of the radical changes in the media environment. It was the first time I ever heard something like totality of their perspective; I found it interesting - YMMV. @bariweiss podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/new…

We're in a bad place with the amount of anti-Jewish content being put out daily. Luckily, the evidence doesn't go away for these low IQ humans. To my Jewish peeps, let the haters hate. Strive to be great and keep succeeding in life. Don't let the weak minded bring you down.✡️💪

Honestly if i read one more fucking LinkedIn post with the same ChatGPT-inspired "It's not A. It's B." construction ....
Essential read (erictopol.substack.com/p/the-peptide-…) from @EricTopol and pairs nicely with a recent, detailed (of course) piece he wrote on testing companies: erictopol.substack.com/p/the-business…. I'd add real tragedy is that this crap obscures and besmirches truly exceptional progress in geroscience
The Peptide Craze I review what we know about 15 different injectable peptides being used without FDA approval or off-label, and NAD+ In the new Ground Truths; free, open-access
Extraordinarily poignant. Also suggest reading his previous piece on same topic: thefp.com/p/the-winner-o…. This is another powerful and beautiful recent piece on similar topic: nejm.org/doi/abs/10.105…. Given prevalence of AD in aging population, likely an incr common experience
