At the meeting of @SouthendCityC's cabinet at the start of the week, I spoke to welcome a new paper from Cllr Anne Jones, which heralds some £100 million investment into the Council's own housing - which will be transformative for the city and the people who live here.

With the four individuals who died in the tragic incident at London Southend Airport having now been named, my thoughts and sympathies are with their families and friends. Our city grieves with them, and this tragic event will not be forgotten.

The Mayor of Southend is holding a cricket match between Leigh Cricket Club and Westcliff Cricket Club , to raise money for his mayoral charities, @SouthendinSight and @MSEHospCharity. The match is at 13.00 on 31 July 2025, at Leigh Cricket Club, in Chalkwell Park.

Sure Start centres were one of the biggest successes of the last Labour government, and at the meeting of Southend Council's cabinet on Monday I welcomed the decision by this Labour government to bring them back.

She is from South Ockenden. She was educated at Southend High School for Girls. She is 19 years old. She has kept England in the competition twice now. She is Michelle Agyemang, and she is one of our own.
