Great to see news media actually questioning the government line on tobacco/nicotine control. These policies are failing on nearly every meaningful measure.

These groups do not deserve your money. They are not scientific, not focussed on their mission (lung disease), and mainly focussed on fund raising.

Importantly, these studies have shown that Juul use results in a MUCH lower exposure to dangerous toxicants than smoking cigarettes. e.g. pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC85…

So why has US FDA authorized #Juul? Because after the company produced over 100 scientific studies, despite FDA denying authorization initially in 2022, they have now decided that having Juul on the market is "appropriate for the protection of public health". That's the standard.

Huge accomplishment today for tobacco harm reduction! Juul's strong science won out in the end, and I'm honored to have contributed even a little to this effort.

The EU Commission attack on tobacco harm reduction will harm all European smokers but PARTICULARLY the most vulnerable and socially deprived groups, in whom e-cigarettes were found to be 3-TIMES MORE EFFECTIVE than NRTs in smoking cessation. See: acpjournals.org/doi/10.7326/AN…
