A man fleeing bees in Brazil jumped into a lake, where he was eaten by piranhas. harpers.org/archive/2022/0…
There are few voices that merit everyone's attention. Colby King is among the rare. I'm glad he'll be writing for a few more months.

Just talked to @ChmnMendelson on the show. He suggested the past DC opposition of the team moving back into the city while named Redskins had more to do with Dan Snyder than the name. Suggested he would have no problem with DC welcoming the team back with the name Redskins now.
"Crazy Train" has been one of my Karaoke tunes for decades. RIP Ozzy. Only you did it better.

Credit to Ward 8 voters: 71% rejected @trayonwhite. Big-time fail on behalf of all DC political players and institutions: none had the ability (desire?) to recruit or support a candidate. Winning required a mere 2,000 votes from among 56,000 eligible voters.

The DC Board of Elections has finished counting ballots for the night. If we assume that all in-person election day votes have been counted, as well as dropbox and mail ballots in-hand, it is difficult to see any other outcome than a Trayon White victory.

But if she shot someone in DC, she'd do less time.

It's good to have a mayor who prioritizes public safety.
Interesting: As expected, @MayorBowser is proposing changes to D.C.'s youth curfew, which is midnight during the summer months. She wants it moved to 11 p.m., for it to apply to 17-year-olds, and for MPD to be able to declare temporary areas where the curfew would be 7 p.m.
Apparently, local DC democracy is immune from dying in the darkness...
