Farmer
Last nights rains had winners and losers. Unfortunately one of the least amounts was where we top dressed the most Urea the day before. Hoping for another shot to get it captured before we lose it to volatilization. Such is farming.

Busy spray day for us. There is a 90% chance of rain so our big sprayer is getting ahead on spraying soybeans & our little sprayer is y-dropping corn. We also got additional corn acres top dressed with the airplane yesterday. Bring on the rain.

I was able to visit my sister in France this last week & it was a bucket list trip. In 7 days we: Rode 220 miles with 29,400’ of elevation gain on some of the best routes in Europe Rode parts of stage 16 & stage 18 of #TDF2025 & cheered on the best riders in the world…

#wheat #harvest25 is here in Aurora County, SD. While having crappy prices puts a damper on it, it’s still a great feeling getting the crop harvested and in the bin.

My brother just got back from scouting wheat fields to see if we can start #harvest25 today.
Full video on Bloomberg TV about declining commodity prices putting the hurt on. Nothing we don’t already know. But it’s getting attention outside of the farm belt. 👇 youtu.be/Y7DXBRn42PQ
Something to add to your list as an employer: Any accidents that happen during work hours, with any of your staff, that results in a fatality, losing a limb, eye, or an overnight hospital stay, you’re required to report the accident to OSHA. Reporting deadlines are tight. 👇

Our farm lost a valued employee of 27 years last Friday. He leaves a big hole on our farm, his community, & especially his family. Everyone please, when approaching gravel road intersections please be aware of all traffic, even if you have the right of way.…
This might help with 2026 needs. IMO current prices for 2026 Nitrogen is way out of wack with corn & wheat prices. @JLinvilleFert
China is relaxing the export ban on urea, the world's most common fertilizer, which can help ease global prices which have been on a tear. Increased supplies should help increase demand, particularly in the southern hemisphere for the next crop year. #corn #soybeans
Finally got a big rain, although still variable by location. White Lake=.42 Crow Lake=.21 NW Plankinton=.43 SE Plankinton=1.81 Mount Vernon=1.13 West of Loomis=1.76 Letcher=1.30 Data from @SDMesonet & Davis WeatherLink #SDwx
🚨It's official! Here are #EPA's PROPOSED #biofuel volume requirements for 2026 & 2027. Biomass-based diesel volumes are much higher than most people's expectations. BBD volumes are in #ethanol-equivalent gallons. Example: One gallon of biodiesel generates 1.5 #RINs.
Good news for farmers and especially good news for all the new crush plants being built. One of which is in my hometown.
SCOOP: Trump's EPA is proposing refiners use a record 24.02 billion gallons of biofuels next yr, while moving to deter foreign imports in the the 20-year-old #RFS. 2026 biodiesel quota would be 7.12 billion RINs (per EPA, ~5.61 billion gallons). bloomberg.com/news/articles/…
We did some replants on corn today by filling in some spots that downed out due to poor drainage.

Anyone from that area have some local knowledge on this parcel? It seems cheap compared to other sales I’ve seen closer to my area. Or, at least a softening of past price trends.
Sold! $11,100/acre; purchased as a unit.
Our wheat is heading out but the aphids are moving in and it’s been cool and damp. So we put the @Tridekon crop savers on and went after the bugs and diseases today.

We had to put our mother in the local nursing home this last week. For those of you that are doing estate planning & transition planning the rate for a decent nursing home is now $377/day. Plan accordingly.
It appears that our corn pile is one of the last ones to be picked up this year. At least it went out in good condition & it’s picking up in good condition.

It appears RFK Jr had some influence on the report. And it looks like we need to tell our story in better detail.
The Make America Healthy Again report is out today, and corn growers are deeply troubled by it. Read more. 👇👇 ncga.com/stay-informed/…
We had a slow weekend with only the sprayer running 1/2 time. Rain delay this morning. So, of course we had have something go wrong today. Luckily nobody got hurt. But we had to shut down traffic on a busy intersection for an hour. 🤦♂️
