It is not enough to be pro-beautiful architecture - we must also be actively anti-ugly architecture.
One of our current projects, a design for a new hotel in South Texas:

Modernism is the single most colonizing architecture in the history of mankind. It has invaded every far corner of the Earth. Yet there are no calls to "decolonize" architecture or the 134 out of 135 architecture schools in the US that promote global Modernist colonization.
This is what coastal cities used to look like in Brazil in case you were wondering.

Called a wicket door

Geometry becomes sacred when it is used to create well-proportioned designs. Sacred = Holy = Wholey = Wholeness. Wholeness = Health: complete and uninjured = Unity. Sacred geometry is used to impart unified liveliness - lifelike qualities - to "dead" matter.
In the world of (traditional and classical) architecture, nothing is more fundamental than geometry. From basic geometry, move to sacred geometry - geometry that helps in producing harmonious designs. Sacred geometry also helps show how numbers are real and not merely symbolic.
New Urbanists must work harder to develop architecture appropriate to the region. Now, our favorite plans get replicated across the country, and much of it looks totally out of place. We must do better. ~Don Powers #CNU33
