I was blocked by Randy Fine on his congressional account. But he unblocked me as soon as he, or one of his staff, learned that you’re not allowed to block users on government accounts. I remain blocked, however, by a certain “non-elected politician” from Glendale, MO. We all do.

While Texas got redder in ‘24, something very interesting happened: the state’s fastest-growing cities got bluer. Here’s Georgetown (Williamson County suburb, 2024 population 101k). 2012: R+39.0 2016: R+28.2 2020: R+18.0 2024: R+15.5
Fulshear, TX (Fort Bend County suburb, 2024 population: 55k). 2012: R+65.6 2016: R+40.7 2020: R+30.6 2024: R+28.9 Texas’ rightward shift wasn’t enough to stop booming Fulshear from getting bluer.
Fulshear, TX, a Fort Bend County suburb 32 mi west of Houston, had a population of 17k in 2020, and of 55k in 2024, more than tripling in size. The cities quiz (cityquiz dot io) is rapidly becoming obsolete, as it still clings to 2020 census populations.
A much smaller rightward swing is evident when looking at the Senate numbers. Senate 2018: D+2.4 🔵 Senate 2024: R+1.6 🔴 (flip) And while Texas swung five points right from 2018 Senate to 2024 Senate, Sugar Land swung four. I expect this city will remain in tossup territory.
