Chemistry of Life Processes Institute is where new cures and biomedical discoveries begin at Northwestern.
What comes after launching the first public Internet software company? For #Northwestern alum Tim Krauskopf: startups, semis & science. Now on CLP’s Exec Advisory Board, he’s helping drive real-world impact—from Alzheimer’s to cancer cures. bit.ly/4kCznOC

🎉 Big congrats to CLP Director Dr. Neil Kelleher on receiving the 2025 #StreckAward! His pioneering work on #proteoforms is reshaping how we understand human biology and disease. Learn more about the Human Proteoform Project → bit.ly/43LtyaI #Proteomics @NLKProteomics

🚀 BREAKTHROUGHS START HERE. From developing new drugs that show promise against ALS and Alzheimer's disease to developing new routes to treat cancer, Chemistry of Life Processes Institute researchers are pushing boundaries that shape the world. #Northwestern
What if we could directly measure proteins in single brain cells—no labels, no tricks? 🧠 @NorthwesternU scientists just did it, profiling 10,000+ cells using #scPiMS, a breakthrough in single-cell proteomics. @NLKProteomics bit.ly/3S7wybV #MassSpec #Neuroscience

Today, as we celebrate #NationalProteoformDay, we're thinking about this 2021 publication in @ScienceAdvances that introduced the world to the Human Proteoform Project #HPfP. Understanding #proteoforms is essential to understanding our biology and harnessing it for the better for…
Way to go Frank! We love it when our graduate trainees are recognized for their hard work!
Congratulations to Frank Tucci , a grad student in the Rosenzweig lab in Northwestern University's Department of Chemistry and Molecular Biosciences, on being named a 2025 #ACSBIOL Young Investigator! @rosenzweiglab @IBiSatNU @CLP_Institute @NUmolbiosci
🧠 New hope for #arthritis & aging-related diseases: Researchers at @NorthwesternU & @StanfordMed developed a groundbreaking MRI technique to see senescent "zombie" cells in the body—for the first time. A major leap for diagnostics & anti-aging therapies. bit.ly/43gDrNi

👏 Shoutout to Julian Novin, CLP Lambert Fellow & @NorthwesternU junior, for winning Top Poster in Chemistry & Environmental Sciences at #CAURS! His research on ALS treatments with the Silverman Group is paving the way for new therapeutics. 🔬🔥 #STEM #ALS #UndergradResearch

In today's The Analytical Scientist, @NLKProteomics calls for a Human Proteoform Project to bring protein-level precision to medicine — just like the Human Genome Project did for DNA. bit.ly/4iJA6vE #Proteomics #PrecisionMedicine @tAnaSci

Congratulations to CLP member Ali Shilatifard, PhD, for his election to the National Academy of Sciences. His tremendous impact on cancer treatments and the fundamental understanding of epigenetics is undeniable. bit.ly/4jw4ESR @ShilatifardLab

Our trainees rose to the challenge—and nailed it. With expert coaching from communication facilitator Heather Barnes, each student delivered a dynamic 3–5 minute research talk without a single slide, using the tools they developed during our 4-part science communication workshop.

Small proteins can be more complex than they look! We know proteins fluctuate between different conformations- but how much? How does it vary protein to protein? Can highly stable domains have low stability segments? @ajrferrari experimentally tested >5,000 domains to find out!
Exciting news! CLP scientists, Richard Silverman and William Klein reported a significant breakthrough for treating #Alzheimer's disease in a new animal study—an #ALS drug that effectively treats Alzheimer’s. Grants from NIH and CLP supported the study. bit.ly/4ln9kMj

Friends, you won't want to miss this!
Wednesday at #ACSSpring2025: @xzhang85 speaks on #CRISPR activation. (@CLP_Institute)
A huge thank you to Alexander Adibekian, a leading expert in #Chemistry @thisisUIC for delivering an incredible talk on chemoproteomics-enabled target identification and degrader discovery to our trainees! 🙌

@CLP_Institute we’re proud to have Jody Hirsh, PhD, as part of our team. As a senior research administrator, Jody is the unsung hero who ensures that researchers can focus on the science, not the bureaucracy. bit.ly/4hfeO8J

Calling all Northwestern University undergraduates looking for #research opportunities, applications are now available on our website for the 2025 CLP Summer Scholars Program and 2025 Lambert Fellows Program. Applications are due by April 15th. bit.ly/3XuI1p4

A new study by @CLP_Institute member Vadim Backman reveals how the human genome produces instructions for creating proteins and cells!
Northwestern Medicine scientists have discovered new details about how the human #genome produces instructions for creating proteins and cells, the building blocks of life, per @ScienceAdvances. spr.ly/6017LjsDt
Meet Ryan McClure platform leader @czbiohub Chicago & alumnus of our graduate training program. Ryan's team aims to uncover the common & unique markers of #inflammation with data-rich insights that reveal the complexities of the immune system. bit.ly/41mBAGL #proteomics
