From July 3-7, CISS Director Da Wei @mawangcun1 visited Russia & lectured on #multipolarity at @hse_eng’s #ChinaRussia Summer School. Prof. Da also held in-depth discussions with students & scholars, & visited the site of the 6th National Congress of the CPC in Moscow.

In the latest #CISSPodcast, @CISSTsinghua invited Prof. Cui Hongjian @JCuihong54081 to share insights on 50 years of #ChinaEU relations. He stressed pragmatic cooperation needs not only consensus but the ability to build mechanisms to solve problems jointly despite differences.

#CISSevent On July 4, CISS co-hosted a panel at the 13th #WorldPeaceForum on “Challenges & Opportunities of the use of Armed Conflict”, chaired by @ICRC @StaehelinB. CISS Deputy Director Xiao Qian discussed AI in warfare & global cooperation to steer tech for good. #WPF

In May 2025, CISS Predoc Fellow Niu Qiyang completed the #ACONA Fellowship, winning Best Paper Award & spoke at the annual ACONA Conference, highlighting China's active #armscontrol engagement with EU & US. He also met with Iceland's President & FM for security talks.

On June 23 to 27, CISS Fellow @ChenghaoCISS led #CISSYouth to visit the US, holding 20 meetings with think tanks, businesses, media & international organizations, discussing US foreign policy, #ChinaUSrelations, etc.

On June 24–25, CISS Director Da Wei @mawangcun1 and Fellow @JingWenOxford attended the #AMNC25 @wef ‘Summer Davos’ 2025 in Tianjin. Da Wei shared his views on geopolitical risks, geo-economic dynamics, & #EastAsia regional cooperation.

#CISSevent On June 11–12, CISS Director Da Wei @mawangcun1 and PhD Fellow Niu Qiyang attended the 22nd #OsloForum for Peace at the invitation of @NorwayMFA and @hdcentre. Da Wei spoke on conflict prevention in Asia.

@CISSTsinghua Academic Committee Member Prof. Yan Xuetong told @IFENG__official that Trump’s policies set the U.S. back, weakening its national strength, int’l influence & scientific capacity. He noted future #ChinaUS competition hinges on domestic reform than int’l rivalry.

On June 21, #CISSYouth held its 17th Youth Talk on “The Return of MAGA: Between America First & European Autonomy.” 40+ students & scholars joined online to discuss how transatlantic shifts impact Taiwan Strait dynamics, #ChinaGermany ties & the future of EU strategic autonomy

From June 14–18, CISS Fellow @JingWenOxford attended the 1st Global South Economic Forum #GSEF2025 in Abu Dhabi & moderated the panel “Decolonizing Media Narratives: Empowering voices & perspectives” . She also visited @ChineseEmbinUAE @bhuth_UAE & @TheECSSR.

CISS Director @mawangcun1 was interviewed @IFENG__official at the Shangri-La Dialogue, noting that Trump’s Indo-Pacific strategy faces credibility issues amid trade wars & declining overseas engagement He also discussed shifting regional dynamics & decoupling in tech & education
