Very pleased to see my 46th butterfly species for Britain this afternoon at Prestbury Hill in Gloucestershire. The migrant Clouded Yellow. Only the second time I have encountered this species in Britain. #Savebutterflies

From Peru for #BirdsSeenIn2025
Day 2 in Peru was hard work at altitude but four lifers, two photo ticks & a few years ticks. Puno Antpitta & Orange-browed Hemispingus were lifers, Plushcap a photo tick & Scarlet-bellied Mountain Tanager a year ticks. 😀
It was all Chiffchaffs today.I couldn't go far so just had a short walk through the lane near my home and saw more Chiffs. This one was really lovely, using this fallen branch to watch over the nettles below it, then hovering over the nettles looking for insects. No pics of that🙁
Check this google drive (shorturl.at/vflCU) to verify whether your country has missing species you could add to its list. Do so by posting a picture taken this year, with the location and the #BirdsSeenIn2025! Give it a couple of minutes so that the new files are uploaded!
In this week top 10, the Netherlands claim the 10th rank and the first, USA, is ever so closely to its 600th species in the #BirdsSeenIn2025 challenge! Vietnam and Puerto Rico are push out from the top 40, notably by Indonesia making a strong come back this week!

Felt the urge to get back to Umdoni Park for another look at the young crowned eagle. Great watching it again, but the show was stolen by finally getting an unobscured look at a Knysna turaco. Both it and the purple-crested turacos have been real highlights of this trip

Finally found an ant swarm today at PiraAcu, but unfortunately no Pale-faced Bare-eyes attending it😣. ‘Only’ a few White-breasted Antbirds and White-chinned Woodcreepers. Other highlights today included Crimson-bellied Parakeet and a fabulous Collared Puffbird. #BirdingBrazil
