Today marks 3 big events: finishing residency, launching my lab @MountSinaiPsych @SinaiBrain, & receiving my 1st R01: @NIMHgov $4.2M BRAINS Award! Here’s to kicking off new beginnings + a warm welcome to my lab manager @sam_mbp_, grad student @emma_andraka & the growing team!🧠🐁

Conrgats @ScottRussoPhD, Tony, @neuromano and team!!!! @SinaiBrain
1/4 I am very pleased to share this new manuscript, “A crucial role for the cortical amygdala in shaping social encounters”, led by 2 spectacular postdocs, Dr. Tony Aubry who is on the job market, and coauthor @neuromano. @SinaiBrain Read it here: nature.com/articles/s4158…
Huge Congratulations to @neuromano, Orna Issler, @ScottRussoPhD @EricJNestler @BrianMSweis, et al. @IcahnMountSinai @MountSinaiPsych Fantastic Paper! Paper: tinyurl.com/2cycsy6d Press release: tinyurl.com/yur3j2n8
This speaks to the importance of cross-species research that is constantly forward & back-translated between the clinic & lab. The importance of animal models leading to unanticipated discoveries - even in the realm of human psychology - is invaluable, especially in #psychiatry🧠
A traditionally overlooked type of RNA plays an important role in promoting resilience to depression, but only in females. Mount Sinai researchers have now discovered a novel role this molecule plays in how the female brain makes decisions. mountsinai.org/about/newsroom…

New paper!🚨📝 Paper: tinyurl.com/2cycsy6d Press release: tinyurl.com/yur3j2n8 How the 🧠 engages in change-of-mind decisions taps into cognitive biases that depend on sensitivity to sunk costs & regret - both of which may contribute to negative rumination…however🧵👇1/6
What’s better than a one-channel #Miniscope? 🥁 A TWO-CHANNEL Miniscope! Our new Miniscope2C is a dual-channel, open-source Miniscope that lets you record 2 fluorescent signals simultaneously in freely moving animals. Read the paper here: science.org/doi/10.1126/sc… (1/9)
Excited to share our review with our PhD student Ayako Kawatake-Kuno @SinaiBrain just out in @npp_journal "Impact of early social isolation on social circuits and behavior: Relevance to Schizophrenia" nature.com/articles/s4138…

Hello, I’m looking to hire a post doc, to work on exciting projects on cognitive neuroscience of developmental disorders. Proven experience in electrophysiology and signal analysis are required. More details and how to apply 👇🏼 careers.mountsinai.org/jobs/3022120?l…
Our new paper with @chrismlangdon is just out in @NatNeuro! We show that high-dimensional RNNs use low-dimensional circuit mechanisms for cognitive tasks and identify a latent inhibitory mechanism for context-dependent decisions in PFC data. nature.com/articles/s4159…
Excited to share my work with @EngelTatiana, out now in @NatNeuro! We show that RNNs use low-dimensional latent circuit mechanisms for cognitive tasks. We find that context-dependent decisions in both RNNs and PFC arise from latent inhibitory mechanisms. nature.com/articles/s4159…
🧵1/ Does depression recovery rewire the mind-body connection? Our latest from the Nash Family Center for Advanced Circuit Therapeutics explores effects of deep brain stimulation for depression on neural interoception. biologicalpsychiatrycnni.org/article/S2451-… #NashNeuroscience
This is a really fascinating and important paper, on the mechanism of neurodegeneration in Huntington's disease. I often think single-cell 'omics is an overhyped approach, but it was completely essential here. 1/
Aligning microetched plates before cutting them down to size. The margin of error in the microscopic etched mirrors is single micron resolution. These are made with analog 2D photolithography followed by wet chemistry development. #art #etching #technique #neuro #brain #sciart
Thrilled to see our work published in Science today! Grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with an amazing team at @SonjaBHofer Lab and @SWC_Neuro . Years of effort went into this project—excited for what’s ahead! :)
Super excited to share this finding that just came out today in @NatMentHealth led by the @_SarahBanker, where we show important phenotypic divergence between online subjects who self reported high autism traits and those formally diagnosed by clinicians. @SinaiCCP @SinaiBrain
As anonymous online research becomes increasingly popular, it is essential to evaluate its limitations to determine the scientific questions it can most effectively address. @_SarahBanker @xiaosigu #Autism nature.com/articles/s4422…
