New preprint! 🎉 We show that individuals with autism exhibit reduced neural and behavioral entrainment to rhythmic sensory input - especially when rhythms are imperfect. This may help explain why uncertain or chaotic environments feel overwhelming to these individuals.

I, and every scientist I've talked to, believe the end result of this devastating cut will be that Universities will simply pass on the buck to investigators. Many of us fervently agree that university administrations & bureaucracy should be downsized and reformed. This maneuver…
Last year, $9B of the $35B that the National Institutes of Health (NIH) granted for research was used for administrative overhead, what is known as “indirect costs.” Today, NIH lowered the maximum indirect cost rate research institutions can charge the government to 15%, above…
Both worker.gov and employer.gov are down. The USDOL websites giving legal guidance for workers and employers must simply be too woke
Friends, this is urgent. Families in Gaza are starving and need our help. I have donated to and been following this soup kitchen since they started. They provide hot meals to thousands & they need funds to keep going. Please consider donating & sharing. gofund.me/aab9459d
The @SeaverAutism is looking for study coordinators! If you are interested in clinical research, like to interact with children and adults with developmental disorders, and hold a BA in bio/psych, please apply! applications are due 1.18. For more details, see below 👇

New paper w/ the brilliant @OdedWertheimer suggests a new computational framework for ASD variation, framing it as a computational trade-off between precise signal encoding and fast adaptation to changes, driven by neuronal dynamic range. nature.com/articles/s4159…
🚨New preprint alert!🚨 we show behavioral and electrophysiological evidence for intersensory switch vs. repeat costs. These effects are similar for auditory and visual domains, suggesting a modality-independent role for sensory processing under cognitive load.
