tl;dr a small U.S. platform had five minutes of downtime in its IP geoblock. Ofcom freaked out and sent a demand. We told the WH. The WH asked us to tell them who was responsible. Threatening Americans with jail time over maintenance downtime is outrageous. Enough is enough.

RIP Charles Portis. He worked with Tom Wolfe & Jimmy Breslin at the NY Herald Tribune, then became great American novelist. We shan’t see their like again. “You must pay for everything in this world one way and another. There is nothing free except the Grace of God.” (True Grit)
P.S. your IE free in 1997 (it was not competitive in 1995) point is not fair enough -- MS was subsidizing $1B into IE to kill Netscape, to neutralize a threat to its WIndows OS monopoly which it was convicted of abusing in _US v. Microsoft_. Perhaps we disagree: nothing's free.

It's true, the supporters may be willing to overpay. Still, I prefer flat and simple pricing. We are not operating as a charity, this is a product for a segment of our users who have already asked for the product. We're user-first, so we aim to please to serve.
It'll be < $10/month I think (I have some say in this ;-). Two economic thoughts: 1. Marginal cost of software production is 0. Brave Origin needs own updates (0day fixes, obligate-not-facultative web standards/features), QA. 2. Browser user LTV calc assuming finite retention.
.@MachinaLabs_ is no longer just sheet metal ops company. We do plates with big ass robots! >5mm thick. Ship building here we come! Giant truck in the background for scale.
And to make sure no one misses context, Brave Origin is optional. Don’t buy if you don’t want it. Free-ride all you like, no disrespect. We’ve heard from enough users who say they would buy, who want to cover their costs. One example of many, via x.com/search?q=from%… search:
Also, setting aside my frustrations here, I do trust their privacy defaults. It's why I think a paid, minimal option that is completely free of the upsells would be so great. I would finally have something I can just trust and start using instantly upon downloading.
Turn it off in lower right. If you expect a free lunch, you're not living in the real world. Do you think other browsers are free?
Harvard and MIT Study: AI Models Are Not Ready to Make Scientific Discoveries, by @Alber_RomGar thealgorithmicbridge.com/p/harvard-and-…
Coming soon: Brave Origin, where you pay modest monthly fee (pricing not final; discount for annual) to get Brave w/o sponsored images, rewards, VPN/wallet/Leo in toolbar, etc. No telemetry just updates vs. 0day security bugs. Just mentioning in case you would pay :-). TANSTAAFL
Time is old CIA outlet from Henry Luce / C.D. Jackson days. Picture mag in large format that I recall from childhood from same publisher, called Look. “Look, for those who can’t read — and Time, for those who can’t think.”
💥💥It’s going to be two Indian women at the Chess World Cup finals! Divya and Koneru 🇮🇳 beat two really good players from China 🇨🇳 ! Divya is 19 years old and Koneru is 38. Should be a fascinating match!
Model is Qwen. From top Brave eng: "We recently noticed their models (including the one on chat.qwen.ai) have an issue where they start endlessly repeating elements when you ask it to produce a list of something (list of emojis for example)." vLLM is suspected, FYI.
