Anyone who has met me face-to-face or joined me in online spaces knows my political views and ideas are actually very boring and sensible. That is why I received so much abuse online — moderate pragmatic policies are red rag to a bull for those with nothing more than hate memes.

Pragmatic, ‘soft’ bans on drugs, fireworks and other sources of antisocial behaviour are compatible with individual liberty. No reason to enforce by-laws on people in private, but bad idea to be easily accessible and normalised by e.g. open promotion and sale in supermarkets.

Banning the sale of fireworks would also protect dogs, who are easily frightened by the unexpected noise throughout the days surrounding Guy Fawkes' Night. If you enjoy fireworks, petition and assist your local council in planning safe, organised public events everyone can enjoy.
