Bob Drach was a 2024 candidate for NC State Auditor. He believes good government requires good financial controls and balanced budgets.
Our HOA board thanked a volunteer, accepted a donation, and deferred some maintenance to keep spending in line with income. Are we amazingly competent, or is Congress amazingly incompetent?

The "big, beautiful bill" imposed a tax on remittances, penalizing any American citizen or noncitizen who sends money across US borders. This is a penalty on one of the purest expressions of human freedom. | Brayden Myers trib.al/X4dnSgX
Should Jay Powell lead the Fed? Who cares? Trump and Congress need the Fed to manipulate the national debt. The problem is the debt. Many Fed functions should be objective (eg: money supply), come from the market (eg: interest rates), or be done by others (eg: regulation).
A parable about "one grain of rice" explains, in terms a 6-year-old can understand, why running a fiscal deficit is bad. If you're over 6 and still support government deficit spending, revisit this parable. #ncpol
Nice to see the country moving toward the Libertarian postion on immigration. livemint.com/news/us-news/d…
The Big Bill increases spending, including Medicaid. As a result, the national debt may soar to $54 trillion. If you're under 50, its your money and opportunity being spent. If you're over 50 and financially literate, shame on you. #ncpol
"... debt is almost always a detriment to one’s personal economic freedom, ..." #ncpol debt.org/blog/united-st….
The national debt is projected to reach $50 trillion by 2034. The proposed "big beautiful bill" would increase it to $54 trillion. Compare this to $14 trillion when Alma Adams (D) and David Rouzer (R) were first elected. #ncpol crfb.org/blogs/cbo-scor…
During the tenure of U.S. Rep David Rouzer (NC-7) the national debt has more than doubled. #ncpol

U.S. Representatives Alma Adams (NC-12) and David Rouzer (NC-7) have done the most to impoverish you. #ncpol bobdrach.com/post/republica…
Looks to me like they AGREE on almost everything. Both parties keep 95% of the taxes and spending from prior administrations and then pile on their new hot button issues. The fight is so vicious because the stakes are so small.
It's weird how both Democrats and Republicans disagree on almost everything except increasing the debt.
I'm reporting on the pending federal budget deal starting with this article from 2024. Substitute "Thune" for "Schumer" and "Trump" for "Biden." Add a few trillion to the debt projection. Done. See what I just did? #ncpol nbcnews.com/politics/congr… via @nbcnews
The government imposes 7 x more debt on U.S. households than they choose for themselves. Government debt is a black hole of despair. bobdrach.com/post/would-you…
The government just imposed over $210 K in debt on you. Please make them stop! bobdrach.com/post/the-gover…
We're 33 days from filing opening for local Town and City councils and Mayoral races in NC. These are winnable races. Reach out to us if you would consider running for office as a Libertarian.
Your household's share of the federal debt exceeds $211,000. You will pay it back with interest until settled.

In NC, Alma Adams (NC 12) and David Rouzer (NC 7) have been our representatives since 2014 and between them voted for half this debt increase. If you hate drowning in debt, vote these people out. #ncpol
In case you needed a reminder, our national debt is currently at more than $36 trillion. That’s more than $323,000 per taxpayer, and Washington wants to add to that.
Government debt is future tax. Shocking facts on our national fiscal crisis here: fiscaldata.treasury.gov.
3.5 million East Germans crossed into West Berlin seeking freedom. So their socialist government built a wall and cleared a "death zone" to seal their people in. What are the lessons here about freedom, socialism, government coercion, and border walls?
