Is it obvious that genetics are important in managing white mold??

Today, my masters student Vanessa Louks presented her research on seed treatment effects on managing root rots in soybeans at the Carrington Field Day. Lots of great data that will help farmers make more informed decisions on their operations. Makes me a proud advisor!

I’ve seen a few sprayers out the past few days. Intermittent rain the past few days has helped drive white mold risks upward. If risk is high in areas with susceptible soybean varieties, it may be time to consider an application.

Very surprising to see this early, but SDS symptoms have appeared in southeast ND. Soybeans were just getting to R2 in this particular field.

Also for the irrigated acreage across the region, check risk levels based on your soybean row width. Yesterday in Oakes, ND under irrigation we found the first apothecia of the year. Happy scouting!

Lots of soybeans starting to flower across North Dakota. With cool temps and more rain in the forecast, risk for white mold is expected to continue climbing. Remember that canopy closure is incredibly important for the white mold apothecia to form.
