Any Philadelphians remember the whale mural on the Schuylkill River? Well, Steve Donahue supplied the paint. Coach told us that he didn’t make a dime coaching basketball until he was 33, and was a paint salesman to make ends meet. Safe to say he does have to sell paint anymore!

ICYMI: @PennMBB opens their season at home vs. @RowanMBB on November 7. It marks for the first trip to The Palestra for the Profs since 2001 when they played US Merchant Marine Academy, who was led by then-head coach (and Rowan grad) Billy Lange.
We don’t talk enough about how the 1989-90 La Salle team was one of the best mid-major teams of all-time. They had three NBA players, finished 12th in the AP Poll, went into the tournament 30-1, and won 21 of those by double digits (13 of 14). Speedy Morris is a LEGEND.

Villanova will host Pittsburgh this season, as the two schools start a home and home series. Wildcats are headed to Pittsburgh for a return game during the 2026-2027 season. No word on if this game will be at Finneran Pavilion or Xfinity Mobile Arena.

The American Athletic Conference is being renamed to the “American Conference” or the “American”. Some new logos too with the Eagle, and what looks like slightly changed font for the name of the conference.
The American Conference is announcing later today a renaming, retiring the names “American Athletic Conference” and “AAC” in place of “American Conference” or “American.” The renaming comes with the creation of various rebranding concepts, including a new mascot: Soar the Eagle.
