NEW research from @sffed shows how economic conditions in their respective regions have influenced how presidents of the 12 regional Federal Reserve Districts voted at the FOMC meetings in past decades:
Do local economic conditions influence Fed officials' votes on interest rates? A new Economic Letter shows that an elevated unemployment rate in a District has been associated with a higher probability of dissenting in favor of looser policy. sffed.us/4mPJ1zd

SF Fed Pres. Daly talks inflation and economic outlook with @FOX10Phoenix @RonHoonFox10 fox10phoenix.com/video/1595880
We all want, and already have, a safe and sound banking system here in the United States. But we also want a banking system that supports innovation and growth, where banks, businesses, and households can thrive.
Carefully considered and appropriately tailored rules that evolve as the banking environment does, can ensure that banks of all sizes take smart risks and continue to thrive.
Even though Federal Reserve Bank presidents don't have a role in regulatory or supervisory policy or its execution, we do have insight into the challenges and opportunities for community banks.
My perspective is that regulations need to balance protection of the consumer and the financial system against costs to financial institutions, innovation, and economic growth, while recognizing that not all banks are the same.
