bit.ly/4hcIu6c I sat down with @CSIS to talk about the decimation of U.S. protection against biological threats, the incredible people who make up the US health security fighting force & why these efforts are imperative for all Americans and our national security.
Thinking today of the men and women of the State Department — Foreign Service and Civil Service. Their dedication to serving the national interest and the American people is second to none. It was the privilege of a lifetime to work by their side.
Thrilled to author with @BhadeliaMD @Craig_A_Spencer as we try to make sense of the landscape and chart a safer, more secure future, including for all Americans, from bio threats. Our conclusion? Ensuring U.S. pandemic security requires strategic global engagement, not retreat.
NEW: @BethCameron_DC , @Craig_A_Spencer and I share the impact of US funding cuts and policy changes to global health security now and in the future in Vaccine journal. "A tale of two U.S. Global health security futures—withdraw or evolve?" sciencedirect.com/science/articl…
Today we learned the sad news another kid died from measles in Texas. We also learned what RFK Jr. will and will not say And we got a clearer glimpse of the playbook being used to discredit the proven measures to tackle measles outbreaks Let me tell you why I'm worried 🧵
"We do not have our normal eyes and ears with what's happening with diseases around the world." Professor @Craig_A_Spencer on the ongoing impact of funding cuts to USAID & other global health organizations. "We are going to regret this," he tells @CNN. cnn.com/2025/03/13/pol…
Our protective shield against deadly disease is falling apart. We haven't had Ebola in America in a decade. That's we've had USAID & CDC to: 1. protect our homeland from deadly disease, 2. stop outbreaks at the source & 3. make sure our military doesn't have to go into hot zones.
Uganda's Ebola outbreak has worsened — but the country’s ability to fight it has been severely weakened by the Trump administration’s freeze on foreign assistance, per recording of US officials obtained by @Lattif @snolen. Eye-catching + worrying scoop nytimes.com/2025/03/06/hea…
