John Tizard, Bedfordshire Police and Crime Commissioner
This is a great example of effective policing and local businesses supporting the police.
A man ran from an M&S in Romford with a basket of stolen goods. Officers chased him down on bikes, donated by Romford BID and built by Smyths Toys. This is community policing in action, helping keep local people and businesses safe.
Charities, community groups, faith groups and social activists have critical roles in building a safer and fairer Bedfordshire. I want to hear their views and involve them in decision making. My grants programme is designed to enable us to support them to work with and advocate…

"A stronger relationship between the police and the public is essential." — @JohnTizard, Bedfordshire PCC (Police and Crime Commissioner ) @BedsPCC , on In Conversation With Nneka🎙️ Watch the full interview to view his analysis on respect, accountability, and rebuilding trust.
If you’re in a position of privilege or power, always lower the ladder down to help others climb up, rather than pulling it up. Some in positions of authority/power won't do that because they perceive the talent of others as a 'threat', but that's a sign of weakness not strength.
Despite some politicians claiming #crime is out of control, public concern is at a relatively low level by historic standards - our latest in our longest running monthly series

Practicing CPR at Desi Festival. Thanks to Blenheim Health Centre

It was good to enjoy the Luton Desi Festival with friends and colleagues today. Here I am with my Deputy PCC Cllr Umme Ali, @rach_hopkins, the Mayor of Luton and PCSO Danny McHugh.

Great atmosphere and community spirit at Luton’s Desi Festival this afternoon. The rain didn’t diminish the warmth and enthusiasm. I spoke with a lion and with many residents, festival organisers, stall holders, @bedspolice officers and @lutoncouncil councillors.
