Drive down a deserted highway, experience cosmic horror on the high seas, open mysteries of the ancient past, battle evil wizards, and more! Link in replies!
Born on this day 79 years ago, Charles R. Saunders and his IMARO series had a profound impact on sword-and-sorcery - perhaps none larger than helping inspire the African-influenced sword-and-soul subgenre! Have you read Saunders or IMARO? Have a favorite work of sword-and-soul?

Happy 147th birthday to the late great grandaddy of sword-and-sorcery himself, Lord Dunsany, author of seminal works from THE SWORD OF WELLERAN and THE KING OF ELFLAND'S DAUGHTER! Who among as has a favorite tale from this founding father of fantasy?

All goes well with the crowdfunder? Yes, probably in September or October. If all goes to plan, three issues, each has 20k words left up for grabs if we hit the first few stretch goals. In the meantime? Polish those stories, and come ready to earn your spot against all comers.
@BattlebornMag do you have a submissions window?
We are starting to book interviews to promote Battleborn during its launch - so sword-and-sorcery faithful, where are some of the places you trust for word of all that is good in heroic fantasy?
Today is Howard Andrew Jones' birthday, sword-and-sorcery champion and creator of Hanuvar, who died far too young earlier this year. We would not exist without him - and could not be prouder to share that out first issue will have a never before printed Hanuvar story!

In addition to over 70k words of sword-and-sorcery, each issue of Battleborn will have an article about a man or moment from history, because courage, honor and glory don't just exist on a page. From Audie Murphy to Miyamoto Musashi, whose tales light a fire in your belly?

The Chain Story Project just released its second round of #freefiction with Forest of the Fallen Colossus! (Please like and share, it really helps. Thank you.) chainstorycore.com
Clark Ashton Smith's stories are totally wild. Sometimes the main character survives, sometimes they live happily ever after, sometimes they die heroically, and sometimes they do something like slip and fall into a bottomless pit and it says "and that he didn't plan for" and then…
Happy to help! Howard Andrew Jones, may he be remembered, gave five factors: -The Protagonist -The Environment -The Action -The Obstacles -The Writing Style Good sword-and-sorcery can hit a few, but GREAT sword-and-sorcery nails all five, and does it well. youtu.be/dW5srCVQqpw?si…
@BattlebornMag @SCWKorsgaard Genuine question, what do you consider the difference between *good* sword-and-sorcery, and *great* sword-and-sorcery? I'd say I was asking for a friend, but I don't have that kind of self-esteem

No, please do!
A few say that short fiction is dead. That the market is gone, that AI will wipe out what is left. We publish sword-and-sorcery. Our genre has survived worse, we'll be damned if we surrender now to robots and romantasy. And if this be our Ragnarök, let our death be magnificent.

Sword-and-sorcery faithful, mark your calendars. At long last, we unsheath our swords. This August 1, Battleborn magazine gears up to join the frontlines of fantasy! We launch on Indiegogo for our first year - and we can't wait to share what we've got planned! Swords Together!
Just a quick reminder: The Chain Story has its first two #freefiction offerings up. Please check it out and share/repost so we can get more eyeballs on these tales. (Sharing really helps.) Thank you. chainstorycore.com
