Very interesting preprint from the Ivanov lab with CD226+ macs subset conserved across several tissues and especially fat, in which they regulate lipid metabolism. They exhibit a rapid turnover from monocytes, and in particular MDP-derived monocytes !
Excited to share the lab's first preprint ! We previously observed CD226+ macrophages in brown fat that resemble CCR2- and IRF4-dependent peritoneal small Macs, but we didn't know anything about them... biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
Ivanov lab paper ! Very happy to see our story on monocyte glucose metabolism online in @NatureComms today. Inhibition of Glut1 depletes the majority of blood monocytes, yet atherosclerotic plaques still develop normally🧐 @LP2M_Lab nature.com/articles/s4146…
