I like this. Self reliance. Of course, there’ll always be compromise, we interact, we’re interdependent but a strong self of self & one’s own values. Foundational. Then, whether praised or pilloried, others’ opinions, really lot less significant.
Slowly? Not sure great advice. U may be giving very mixed messages. Of course, if u don’t know what you’re doing trying to change lots of things at once likely to fail.
Yes I was planning to ask our 11 year olds how I should run my morning senior team meetings. I think they would contribute to making Michaela even better. Or maybe Michaela is excellent because we recognise just how stupid this 👇is. 🙄

I remember this as a kid. The children portrayed as incredibly rude. Why? Funny? Cute? Cool? Not good. Joe Brown advert for the green cross code #joebrown #greenvrosscode #ety... youtube.com/shorts/vvU5yJQ… via @YouTube
A healthy society discusses responsibilities at least as much as it discusses rights.

We should be more open about this. No point staying in a badly led school. If head hasn’t radically changed school in a year it’s highly unlikely school culture will change significantly with this head. CEO has lot of responsibility here. They appoint heads & keep them in place.
Myself & someone close to me left mid-year. The guilt is immense, but after 2 terms of chaos & leaders not prepared to address it you have to prioritise different things. The saviour complex many of us have (without meaning to) won't change things when leaders are in denial

Good intention? I’m not so sure. I don’t like lines between adulthood & childhood being blurred. What is the intention ? A lot of virtue signalling to win approval of peers in their particular echo chamber - I suspect.
As with most things in education, it comes from a place where it sounds good, and it is probably of good intention, but in reality is completely nonsensical. Should read — The adults will make the best decision based on research and experience whether the kids like it or not.

Many people are terrible at 'connecting dots' meaning they can identify individual issues but struggle to understand how they are connected. So, they'll complain about a problem but also support the things that create and propagate it.

Brilliant from @billmaher on TRAD DADS !! ❤️ Fathers - be like this!
‘I’ll stay until my y11s go.’ But if in a badly run school v unlikely to change. Find less badly run school. That may be all on offer. Often we learn to survive, lower standards, become part of the problem, stay in same failing school for years. Apathy, lethargy, self doubt.
I used to judge teachers who quit midyear And then I encountered several in this exact same situation Stop giving your labor to an organization that fails students and can't even keep you safe
School improvement. You’ll be attacked for trying to raise standards. So many examples of unsuccessful schools espousing fashionable ideas. U don’t have to follow fashion. In fact, often it will not lead to school improvement. Of course, being fashionable is safer.
