One of the best things about visiting my daughter in Scotland... that she doesn't mind me stopping every few minutes on our walks to look at plants 💛
One of the best things about going for a walk with my mum… finding out the names of flowers you’ve seen so many times but never known, and seeing plants you’ve walked past so many times but never noticed 💛 @B_Strawbridge #Ladysbedstraw #sneezewort
A very lovely thread 👇
Brush with the Wild | Otter - Welcome to the very first post in my new weekly series Brush with the Wild; a celebration of the charm, character and innate beauty of UK wildlife, one animal at a time!
Owl knew to trust her intuition. Sometimes it was a nervous feeling inside, something that made her feathers tingle. Other times it was an intangible force driving her on. Even when it wasn't exactly what she wanted, she knew it was her true wisdom speaking. She always listened.
I’d like to announce I’m back on this app but since I don’t pay for premium, it will be seen by 4 people. Anyway to those 4 people, I captured something amazing this month 🐻
Happy Birthday to my beautiful, kind, talented, wise and wonderful daughter, Charlotte @DearUniverse_cs 🎂 Have an amazing day Sweetheart, and I'll see you tomorrow... in Scotland! xxxxxxx

Urban Plants is a celebration of resilience, biodiversity, and the quiet beauty of everyday nature — and a reminder that the wild is never far away, even in the heart of the city. A must-read for urban explorers and anyone curious about the green life growing all around us.

A German tale tells how a vintner’s cart got stuck in the mud. The Virgin Mary appeared and asked for wine, but he had no glass. She picked a field bindweed flower & bade him pour it in. At once, the cart was freed. The flower became known as “Our Lady’s Little Glass”. #folklore
My husband is away visiting his uncle in Herefordshire. They'd just finished watching the Rugby when this young Sparrow Hawk flew in through the open front door, and into the living room. Rob managed to pick him up and take him outside again... but just look at those eyes!

Is there a wildflower more evocative of long summer days than the beautiful Harebell?! Campanula rotundifolia is of course also known as the Scottish Bluebell. The challenge this week is to see if you can find one for #Wildflowerhour! Share your pics this Sunday 8-9pm! 💙
Tiny male Hylaeus (Yellow-face) Bee in the garden bee-hotel today. With the whitish colouration of the face, shape of facial markings, orange underside to antennae and suggestion of hairiness, this could be a Hairy Yellow-face Bee (H. hyalinatus). #bees #SolitaryBees
Let’s give it up for the grasses💚 Picturing a meadow, you might think of flowers…but today it’s all about the grasses.😍 🦋They provide resources for moth & butterfly larvae to grow 🌱& make great spots for wildlife to shelter over winter Watch👉 loom.ly/xCxxUw0
Just saved this stunning female Emperor #Dragonfly from my kitchen. Once outside, she rested on reads in my pond to recover, then flew off. It's so impressive. I haven't seen one this close-up before #cardiff #NaturePhotography
IMPORTANT - new #hedgehog campaign launched today ... 'Go WILD for Hedgehogs' is a wonderful idea and encourages us to ease off on the gardening - a win:win really! change.org/p/help-save-br…
This is the Llynor. It's one of the cleanest tributaries on the Dee. No farmyards or sewage treatment works upstream. And it's mostly forest, a big section being restored to ancient woodland. But it has a major problem. A 🧵
If you want to reduce plastic use, avoid yellow kitchen sponges like these. They're made of plastic, can't be recycled, don't break down in landfill – and release microplastics into the sea. Eco-friendly, compostable alternatives are available – see: bit.ly/42rwUOX
What a useful resource... thank you @joshual951 !💛
A once-common and abundant plant of grasslands, Dyer’s greenweed (Genista tinctoria) needs help. To help restore populations of this functionally important & imperilled beastie, I’ve put a guide together on its propagation, reintroduction and management: nwrpi.weebly.com/dyers-greenwee…
Approximately 15sqm, the only area managed by @RiversideUK allowed to grow over summer, and they’ve caved in and decimated it. The amount of time & energy it’s taken for @RiversideUK to leave this patch alone, from community petitions to seed application, has been massive 🌱
