Just over a week left! We’re hiring a Research Associate to help run GROQ-seq at BU’s @DAMPLab. High-impact, automation-driven role in Boston. Apply by July 31. 👉 hubs.la/Q03yjpHX0
I love the trend of companies publishing technical reports / blogs instead of spending a year+ in peer review publishing detention - get your research OUT THERE!!!! v excited to read
Introducing Latent-X — our all-atom frontier AI model for protein binder design. State-of-the-art lab performance, widely accessible via the Latent Labs Platform. Free tier: platform.latentlabs.com Blog: latentlabs.com/latent-x/ Technical report: tinyurl.com/latent-X
1/4 🔬We just published the 1st-year update on GROQ-seq: an open access, high-throughput experimental platform capable of testing hundreds of thousands of protein variants per run. It’s now running at @NIST and the @Damp_Lab, and scaling fast. Here’s what we built, what we…
Shrink proteins — I mean …..shrkprtns
Come see how to shrink protein sequences with diffusion at our talk tomorrow morning!!!
We find that low copy number accelerates fixation of beneficial mutants while high copy number lets more deleterious alleles hitchhike in cells with fit alleles. High copy number also promotes a form of functional robustness through maintenance of allelic diversity.
This looks like fun ngl
1/4 🚀 Announcing the 2025 Protein Engineering Tournament. This year’s challenge: design PETase enzymes, which degrade the type of plastic in bottles. Can AI-guided protein design help solve the climate crisis? Let’s find out! ⬇️ #AIforBiology #ClimateTech #ProteinEngineering…
3/4 The tournament has two phases: 🔹 *Predictive* (Nov 3 – Dec 23): Predict PETase sequence properties 🔹 *Generative* (Jan 5 – Apr 10): Design novel sequences to maximize enzyme activity. Every submission is synthesized and tested.
Let us test your proteins design - free for you & cash prizes for winners ~
2/4 This is a *lab-validated* benchmark competition for real protein function. The winner will be determined by experiment. We’ll test: 🔥 Enzymatic activity at high temperatures 🧬 Protein expression 🔗 Register by Oct. 17: bit.ly/Tournament25
Whose protein design model reins supreme? You design, we test, science wins 😛 Protein Engineering Tournament 2025 registration is live!!!!

4/ Even more wild: DBXN didn’t evolve from a pigment gene. It’s a chopped-up version of vitellogenin. A yolk protein best known for nourishing embryos. Evolution took a nutrition gene… and turned it into paint.
🚨 new paper alert! science.org/doi/10.1126/sc… During my PhD, one of the most frustrating challenges was trying to interpret genes labeled as “hypothetical proteins.” 1/n
I wonder if the gym membership for ProteinGym covers RNAGym as well?? oh wait, it's all free and 100% open source!
🚨 New paper 🚨 RNA modeling just got its own Gym! 🏋️ Introducing RNAGym, large-scale benchmarks for RNA fitness and structure prediction. 🧵 1/9

Israel is just warning people to immediately evacuate a large patch of Tehran. Say the equivalent of Williamsburg. My septuagenarian mother lives in the equivalent of Brooklyn, 2 miles from this boundary. Many of my friends live inside that patch.

What we're looking for: - PhD students/postdocs at US institutions - Presenting authors at ICML 2025 - Lost lab travel funding - Work in agentic AI, foundation models, or AI for science Apply here: pillar.vc/icml-2025-trav…
My friend @c_sheare has a spotlight talk at ICML and @Harvard halted all travel-related $$$. Travel grants promised to PhD students: gone. I asked @kulesatony if there was anything Pillar could do, one day later he posts this. F*cking awesome -- thank. you @pillar_vc !!!!!
University budgets everywhere are getting slashed, and we hear many PhD students with accepted ICML papers can no longer afford to attend. We are stepping in to offer travel grants for researchers who lost funding. Sponsored by Pillar VC, Ormoni Bio, Latent Labs, and Cimulate
that's so funny I wonder where they found the extra funding...??
