Updating CV for potential new role & realising the first time I ever said “I am autistic” to a group of medical professionals was April 2019. How many hundreds, if not thousands, since then? #NeurodiversityInMedicine 3 yrs from taboo to hot topic #AutismAcceptanceMonth
An absolute privilege to speak at #neptune25. Shoutout to my colleagues @AutisticDoctor @parthaskar #survivinginscrubs #RCEMEDI #RCEMGEC for all their dedicated work in the field and to @TheSGEM for the T-shirt.

Happy to share that our commentary (with amazing @drharikeerthan), was published y’day in the @MedEd_Journal by @asmeofficial. Since then, we’ve been receiving deeply personal messages—from neuroatypical superspecialists who had to drop out mid-course 1/ …epublications.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/me…
Thrilled to share that our manuscript 'Unmasking the professional doctor archetype' (by @drharikeerthan & me) will be published in a future issue of @MedEd_Journal. Time to move away from deficit-based models & recognise the strengths of neurodivergent ways of practicing medicine
A tiny dog led rescuers to his owner who fell into a Swiss glacier. A man and his dog were hiking the Fee Glacier in Switzerland last week when suddenly he broke through a snow bridge and fell into a 26-foot crevasse. The man luckily had a walkie-talkie and was able to call for…
My article made it to the print edition of TIME magazine. Page 64-67 How cool is this!
I've been told that #neurodiversity advocates don't understand or don't care about the needs of autistic people with the highest support needs, or their families. Now I know that is not true, but what groups, research projects or initiatives are out there to refute that claim?
If the #autistic professional community is saying the traditional approach to #autism is wrong – and we are – is it time to take a fresh look at autistic phenomenology and our approach to diagnosis? linkedin.com/posts/mary-doh…
For females between 15 and 24 years old the death rate for Anorexia Nervosa is 12 times higher than for all other causes of death. A review concluded that lack of funding and research is influenced by the fact that majority of patients are female. #rcpsychic
I lead a team supporting thousands of autistic and neurodivergent adults across the UK. Right now, fear around the #TakingThePIP vote is already causing real harm. This isn’t just policy. It’s about dignity, survival, and human rights. @UKParliament: please back the amendment.…
I suffered with an eating disorder through my teenage years. When I was 15, I spent over a month in hospital refusing to eat. I was on an IV drip, was a dangerously low weight, and my organs were on the brink of failing. If I had the choice to die then, I would have taken it.…
The American Psychiatric Association removed homosexuality from its manual of mental disorders in 1973. Learn more about the LGBTQ+ activists and Allies who worked to make that change possible. ow.ly/Xjsc50W7gtw
Thanks @johnharris1969. At a time when waiting lists for an autism diagnosis are up to 5 years, and when 1 in 4 autistic people plan or attempt to die by suicide, likely in part a reflection of the lack of support following a diagnosis, it's wrong to say autism is over-diagnosed
I wrote this. Why new book The Age Of Diagnosis is wrong about autism: Suzanne O'Sullivan calls autism a "brain disorder". She even uses the word "illness". And her ideas are blurring into what we hear from politicians Free, as are subscriptions maybeimamazed.substack.com/p/why-new-book…
Great opportunity for clinicians who can diagnose autism to join a novel research project led by Cambridge University. You could be based anywhere, as assessments are hybrid. Part-time and flexible working. ADOS or ADI-R experience is essential. Paid per assessment. Please share!
Job Opportunity: Research Clinicians We're hiring UK-qualified clinical psychologists/psychiatrists with experience in autism assessment for a study testing the accuracy of GPs’ autism diagnosis. Paid per assessment. Apply by 27 June. Contact: [email protected]

Delighted to speak at this @RCoANews College Tutors meeting, and to see the supports offered to ND trainees & colleagues. Thrilled to chat to so many senior anaesthetists who are openly wondering if they might be neurodivergent. Such a huge change in a few short years 😎

Anyone not terrified by the exponentially increasing power of AI definitely needs to read this. The survival of humanity is in the hands of 5 tech bros driven by greed & grandiosity. We are mindlessly letting them create our evolutionary replacement. newindianexpress.com/amp/story/maga…
