Arcola ES Community School Liaison

Parents from our spring English classes hosted a reunion party to practice their English while helping me unpack and organize diapers & wipes. Thankful for my village as we help each other to make Arcola community a great place for everyone!

Our @MCPS_SummerRISE interns are such a valuable asset to our school. They are supporting teachers in their classrooms, making copies, laminating, helping PreK students on their first day and more! We ❤️ our interns!!!!

That’s a wrap for Back to School Night at Arcola! We had a wonderful turnout. Continuing to engage our community and build relationships with our parents and caregivers is what it’s all about!

Restocked our Little Free Library this afternoon to encourage our students to take home high interest books to read with their family. Check out the new titles for students across multiple grade levels!

Reading prepares our students for academic success and life long learning. Thank you to Ms. Fairbanks from @MCPL_Libraries for sharing information about the public library’s summer reading program ‘Color our World’. The free program ends 8/31 so sign up today!

First week of Innovative School Year is a wrap! So much learning and growing in the first four days. We even had a chance to show @MCPS Superintendent @ThomasTaylorEdD all of the fantastic things that make Arcola so special.

A HUGE shout out to our partner @MannaFoodCenter for continuing to support our families experiencing food insecurity! Each month 100 families are the beneficiary of gift cards to @GiantFood. Making sure our students have access 2 food helps improve their attendance & academics!

We are so excited to host @MCPS_SummerRISE students as well as students who are earning their SSL hours. Today they helped organize lunch cards, count out & distribute math materials, build wellness kits, and distribute snacks! We ❤️ our interns & volunteers.

Today was a great Arcola transition day! New students had a day to acclimate to a new school. In the afternoon we had open house for all other students. We are ready to welcome EVERYONE tomorrow for the first official day of school.
