Our budget will help build a Union that protects. We are proposing €131 billion for Defence and Space, under the Competitiveness Fund. 5 times of what we have today. This will strengthen our industrial base and our capabilities.

Agriculture and cohesion remain at the heart of our budget. They are central pillars of European solidarity and investment. Investing in people, Member States and regions. Safeguarding farmers’ livelihoods. And dedicating strong resources to social policies.

This is a budget for the realities of today, as well as the challenges of tomorrow. Today we present our proposal. Now we continue the work, with the European Parliament, Member States, with citizens and businesses ↓

Today we present the EU budget for 2028-2034. It's a budget for a new era, that matches Europe’s ambition. That addresses Europe’s challenges. That strengthens our independence.⁩

A 30% tariff on EU exports would hurt businesses, consumers and patients on both sides of the Atlantic. We will continue working towards an agreement by August 1. At the same time, we are ready to safeguard EU interests on the basis of proportionate countermeasures.
