In the deeply segregated South of the 1950s, two brothers—Carl and Ronald McNair—were inseparable. Born just ten months apart in Lake City, South Carolina, they did everything together, even dream together. But no one could have imagined just how far those dreams would reach.…

Nerve blocks reduce pain after surgery, but a new study shows they may lead to 23% more opioid use later. Better pain management needed to prevent rebound pain. Full study: bit.ly/4kRAR72
My husband met this homeless kid yesterday who kept staring at the regular basketball hoop at the park. Kid couldn't have been more than 16, sitting on a bench with everything he owned in a torn backpack. When my husband asked what he was looking at, the kid said he dreamed about…
Nurses help residents year after year, residents are paid as residents, NPs are not paid for mandatory clinicals.
What happened with med students occurred out of necessity. And they still did their mandatory clinicals. Med students also don't graduate and go into the workforce, they complete a residency. The NPs go straight from online into a hospital to work w/o significant vetting.
@ABarotchi1 aha: you're quoting rumors from MDs about their competitors? Do *you* actually know anything about the subject, first-hand?
How have you helped NPs to get placement? What do you suggest as helpful?
Nowhere did I use nor imply "all". I said most. Of course placements do have to be approved, once the NP finds a spot ON THEIR OWN. They are not guaranteed placement, that is the problem. Read about the Sawyer initiative...it failed because the NP programs wouldn't enforce it.
I'm astounded at these generalizations about NPs. @SuburbanBella I don't know you, but please produce documentation for saying these are "degree-mill" grads. Please. If you don't have evidence for that, I'm going to chase something. I've worked with LOTS of NPs. All sharp.
This is not the case for all NP programs in terms of entry level in regionally accredited institutions. @Suburbanbella in terms of enrollment, Furthermore, placements need to be approved.
I just explained to you about entry-level programs. They obtain their BSN/FNP in 2 years. Online. Clinicals are mandatory, but they are not arranged by the school. The NPs are responsible for finding their own placement. That is the first red flag that the school is a
New evidence suggests that nearly 1 in 3 children experience chronic postsurgical pain (CPSP), a higher prevalence than previously reported, underscoring its significant and often underestimated burden. bit.ly/4nSWGG2 @katebirnie @DrJenStinson @JARabbitts
We are agreed! Appreciate also the background you shared
I am supportive of work for NPs doing advanced nursing practice within a defined scope. Also supportive of a defined scope for PAs with appropriate expert supervision. I think neither should attempt to practice medicine without a medical degree.
Agree, kindness, and respect matter, they bring dialogue and solutions
Drs do not step in to perform the duties of Nurses/AHPs when they go on strike. Calls for kindness and respect among colleagues often feel like empty preaching. These roles seem designed to sideline drs-yet still expect their unwavering goodwill.
I am requesting evidence. That is not an argument. You provided none and suggested LinkedIn would be your source. Please build the evidence.
And ny evidence i don't mean the papers you provide, full of CoI and questionable study methods. One made the bold claim of nurse anaesthetists having similar outcomes to physician anaesthesiologists. Ignoring the fact that the centre filtered easiest ASA1 to NP
It is not an argument, it is a request for the civil treatment of others and for evidence. I am not suggesting anything, that is premature
Your argument starts with a fallacy. You are suggesting practitioners practising medicine without the international gold standard of a medical degree is somehow acceptable. The onus is on you for the evidence. You don't allow laypeople doing a flight sim course to fly planes

Any objection or whataboutery is just an argument for deregulation. As the saying goes, all regulation is written in blood. We'd do well to remember this lest we become unwitting enablers of patient harm and degradation of medical standards.
