Preventing euthanasia & encouraging hope across Canada and around the world 🇨🇦🌍
Roger Foley, a Canadian man with disabilities, says he's been offered euthanasia "multiple times." Listen to him speak out against being devalued as he fights for the support he needs to live.
This morning @anne_lepper presented her extraordinary research published in the book, "From 'Euthanasia' To Sobibor: An SS Officer's Photo Collection." Thankful to @CdnSocYadVashem, @yadvashem & the @HolocaustMuseum for honouring victims by helping make this history accessible.

"Nor should we ever expect that in a very wealthy country that provides universal health coverage [...] to have parents go begging to the public or to other donors for medication for their children." Charleigh deserves better. vancouversun.com/opinion/column…

Proud of having worked for the only party in Canada to commit to repealing euthanasia for mental illness.
I almost died by suicide fifteen years ago while battling depression. If the expansion of MAID coming into force in 2027 were in place then, I'd likely be dead right now. Today, I'm launching the #IGotBetter campaign to keep hope alive for people living with mental illness.
Canadian educators on @CdnSocYadVashem program peruse the Memorial to the Victims of the Nazi Euthanasia Murders. The Memorial is located at the historical site of the planning headquarters in Berlin’s Tiergartenstrasse 4. Memory • Education • Ethics

Prof. Ebbrecht-Hartmann speaks at @CdnSocYadVashem seminar for Holocaust educators on "Representation of the Shoah in the Media – Challenges Today." Now discussing @DovForman's project w/ his great-grandmother Lily Ebert as an example of featuring "the authority of the witness."

Listening to a talk @CdnSocYadVashem program for Holocaust educators. @anne_lepper is explaining the historical connection between euthanasia and the death camps. As Simon Wiesenthal put it, "The terrible truth is that the euthanasia centers were regular schools of murder."

An estimated 9,000 people were murdered at the Bernburg euthanasia site from 1940-41. @anne_lepper gives a fascinating talk at @CdnSocYadVashem program on how perpetrators saw themselves. This photo shows Nazi perpetrator Johann Niemann in Bernberg in 1941.

Historian and educator @anne_lepper traces the trajectory of Johann Niemann, a Holocaust perpetrator who began his career in the Aktion T4 euthanasia program before becoming deputy commandant of the Sobibor extermination camp. @CdnSocYadVashem @yadvashem @Sticht_Sobibor

> BC decides to save the life of a 10 year old girl > 4 members of the committee decide to resign ??
NEW - 4 members of BC's "expensive drugs for rare diseases committee" have resigned in protest of the BC government's decision to restore drug funding for terminally-ill 10-yr-old Charleigh Pollock. There are approx 50 members on committee + sub committees.
I'm so incredibly happy and thrilled for Charleigh and her family. But this never should have happened and the way the Minister handled things throughout was beyond irresponsible. it was often cruel. Josie Osborne still needs to resign as BC Minister of Health.
NEW - BC gov has restored drug coverage for Charleigh Pollock, the terminally ill 10-yr-old girl from Langford. Health Minister Josie Osborne informed the family tonight. Says it's not acceptable Charleigh is suffering during a disagreement from medical experts about the drug.
Ask yourself, why is promoting death now more lucrative and prioritized than saving lives? What twisted message does this send to Canadians struggling with mental health or chronic illness? Instead of hope, we're being fed a steady diet of despair, painting suicide as an easy and…
Thanks to @JLLiedl for the cool journalism in the @NCRegister so that I could know where to go in "Berlin, a city so post-Christian that the Gospel can once again be experienced as something new and radical." ncregister.com/features/in-at…
This decision will go down as one of the most shameful in the history of British Columbia. Suspending funding, against all medical and expert judgment, for a crucial drug on which a child has been reliant for years. Charleigh deserves better now. facebook.com/share/v/1BEHx5…
The Topography of Terror Museum describes this eugenic propoganda as employing a "grossly distorted, biologistic, and socially racist image of the unproductive sick and disabled..." It's dehumanizing to suggest a society not care for persons among its members because of cost.

People were worried that perhaps 'elderly people, who had accomplished something in their lives and now had become a bit feedbleminded in old age, were being liquidated along with the rest.'" 📍"The Murder of Patients" exhibit at the Topography of Terror Museum, Berlin
