I, a pessimist, was kindly invited to provide a reflection on what brings me hope on #LongCovidAwarenessDay 2025. (My first car video. Only about 15 years late to the genre lol.) Hope you find this message as hopeful as I intended it to be. ☺️ @NeurologistMom #LongCovidAwareness
Maple syrup is an Anishinaabe invention, not Canadian.
Tonight the #CNTower will also be lit teal, grey and black for International Long COVID Awareness Day / Ce soir, la #TourCN sera également illuminée en bleu sarcelle, gris et noir pour la Journée internationale de sensibilisation à la COVID longue.
As an academic living with long COVID I've read a lot on the topic. One of the most accessible articles is this piece written by @zalaly and @EricTopol . In solidarity with those affected you should read this on #LongCovidAwarenessDay science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…

Thorough review of long covid in kids. Just published. Expect the minimisers to keep doubling down as the evidence of significant harm continues to mount. Admitting their role in the harm would lead to personal and professional annihilation. publications.aap.org/pediatrics/art…

Listen to the very talented (and passionate!) Dr. Amy Proal @microbeminded2 talk about viral reservoirs, bone marrow, vagus nerve, the unprecedented scale of chronic disease that has been unleashed, and the dangers of reinfection. 👏🏼 wsws.org/en/articles/20…

This is NOT sustainable. WHY isn't the media covering this?!
Continuing my series on debunking anti-vaxx "died suddenly" claims - here's all ISCHEMIA AND HEART DEATHS in young people compared to COVID, and all-cause mortality. Again, completely unrelated to vaccines. Peaks & contours in both total & cardiac mortality follow COVID!

EXCESS DEATHS… a thread🧵 There have been 25,700 excess deaths in the UK so far this year (source: CMI). That averages out at OVER 1,000 excess deaths a week. Now I hope you’re sitting comfortably because I’ve been doing some digging & there’s a lot more to this story…
25,700 excess deaths in the UK in half a yr (on average ~1000 excess deaths/wk). To me, it's amazing this isn't a scandal. If this trend continues, it would be >50K excess deaths for 2023. Being largely ignored in the media - with nothing being done as people continue to die.
CMI calculates 177,100 excess deaths in the UK since the start of the pandemic. That total has increased by 25,700 in the first 24 weeks of 2023. Cumulative mortality rates YTD are 4.1% of a full year’s mortality worse than 2019. That is similar to this point in 2021. 3/4
We've got a problem Canada. We're killing and/or disabling our future and current workforce.

I like to imagine a world where people care as much about the North Atlantic Ocean, as about a small vessel lost inside of it.
It *was* 1 in 20. Then it was 1 in 10. *Now* it’s ^^^ONE IN FIVE PPL^^^ that have #LongCovid. Do you really want to raw dog a novel SARS virus when we don’t really know the long term effects?!? #AvoidCovid cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/7…

Breaking news: A leading cardiologist and covid scientist in the UK says the average age of referrals to her clinic has gone from 55-80 years-old before the pandemic to 16-40 years-old now. This astonishing shift seems worthy of media attention
