Regarding Trump's Epstein files approval rating, I actually think I've never seen a presidential policy this far underwater. Having a hard time wrapping my head around the 20:1 ratio between the percent of people who want him to release the files (79%) and those that don't (4%).
We just concluded a great visit to Ghana and Senegal, where we had the privilege of meeting with Presidents @JDMahama and @PR_Diomaye, alongside civil society leaders, youth organizers and entrepreneurs, and changemakers.
I completed my visit to Senegal deeply inspired. @OpenSociety has been active in Senegal for 25 years. I met young entrepreneurs devoted to building a better future, civil society leaders who’ve courageously safeguarded democracy and justice, and media partners (like West…

“The striking lack of historical precedents for such behavior…shows a United States acting against its own interests in bewildering fashion, undermining one of the key sources of that power” foreignaffairs.com/united-states/…
“Ukraine’s offensive success against Russia reveals potential shortcomings in U.S. defenses, as well, including in the homeland. Ukrainian expertise could help close the gap.” fam.ag/3UnMfN4
The Epstein files don’t have an incentive to lie for a coverup. A convicted sex trafficker in search of a pardon does. The dead giveaway: DOJ can simply release all the Epstein files, but refuses.
Wouldn’t be surprised at all, but doesn’t even have to go all the way-could do some quid pro quo to say he wasn’t involved and back him with WSJ
I believe that Trump intends to pardon Ghislaine Maxwell and release from prison this convicted child trafficer. Why would he do this? Likely in exchange for her silence. axios.com/2025/07/22/eps…

How Trump Is Bringing Europe Together Again nytimes.com/2025/07/21/wor… via @NYTimes
What I found most striking about Edsall’s piece was the points made by scholar Theda Skocpol. She points out that Trump is creating a system of “competitive sycophancy” and could use ICE as a private army which could ruin American democracy. 👇

I was honored to join Minister for Foreign Affairs Ablakwa, alongside leading Ghanaian scholars and activists, for a candid dialogue on the AU Decade of Justice for Africans and Afro-descendants impacted by slavery, colonialism, and apartheid. It was also my pleasure to join a…

President Mahama, it was an honor to be invited to join you in Accra today. Ghana has real momentum to lead as a beacon of democratic progress in the region, across Africa, and around the world — @OpenSociety stands ready to support your robust reform agenda. 🤝

On Nelson Mandela Day, we celebrate one of the world's great heroes. He and my father shared a special friendship and strong belief in open society - something I cherished witnessing in my youth.

New YouGov poll out yesterday: "Should the government release all documents it has about the Jeffrey Epstein case" - Yes: 79% - No: 4% - Democrats: 85% - Independents: 76% - Republicans: 75% This is going to be a very hard thing for Trump to dodge
Trump's "approve strongly" number is lower than at any point in his first or second terms, per new CNN poll. It's at 21%.
At @OpenSociety, our fellows play a crucial role in reinforcing restless critical thought. Today, I congratulate the 31 public intellectuals who will join us as 2025 Fellows.
